How long does it take to make friends here?

Maybe try sending a private message to someone who has responded to a thread started by you or made a comment to a thread where you've posted. My friendships have resulted from private messages. Can't hurt to try, right?
 
Well it depends on what you mean by friends... many of us here consider each other 'friends' because we've been members of the same forum/s for a long time, and often speak to each other though private messaging. I have phone numbers and home addresses as well as private email ..of many people here...

You'll find yourself having something in common with people over time in your views on different subjects.. and then you may start to use private messaging for things you might not want to post on the pubic forum... eventually you will make friends, I'm sure.
 

I think that it is first a case of familiarity - when you read enough posts you begin to get a feel for a person's character, their worldviews and their likes and dislikes.

In time, familiarity will often become friendship. You'll gather a small group of like-minded folks and start to PM and even phone each other.

I met my future wife here, so the system does work. ;)
