My Grandson is in Afghanistan and he called my wife and I about a half hour ago before going on guard duty. They are also having turkey today.

Yup...it was Great! We had all 4 generations at the daughter's house, and I ate way too much of all the excellent food...especially the desserts. Breakfast tomorrow morning will be a small bowl of cereal...gotta putz around on the computer for an hour or so till the eyes get heavy enough for bedtime.

One of my best memories was being invited to Thanksgiving Day dinner by some American friends at Upper Croughton, Oxfordshire , in the 70s( We're still in touch).


We knew this is normally a family occasion and we felt honoured. That's just how we were treated, as family.

As I've posted before, we made the mistake of saying how much we liked stuff (pumpkin pie springs to mind, we'd never had it before, though many rimes since) and when we cane to leave we could hardly get in the car for the cardboard boxes full of tinfoil wrapped packages containing the remnants of the meal (about two thirds of the original spread which I understand i fairly normal!) piled up in the ca!

Enjoy yourselves, as I shall enjoy my memories
