Father of Larry Nasser victims attacks/lunges at him in court

And if he is arrested and charged I would demand a speedy trial by jury in which I doubt enough would vote for a conviction.

This guy seems legit. I still find it hard to believe some of these parents never heard so much as a rumor. There were allegations going back into the 90s. Young girls are frequently gossipy and wouldn't have relayed stories to their friends, team mates, moms etc? Not saying they covered it up but probably didn't follow through hard enough on a accusation or rumor like molestation. Look at all the officials, administrators that seemed to have known. Judging by what happened at Penn State or Church I think there were a lot of people looking the other way out of denial or fear their world and daughters future(fame, scholarships etc) would be ruined.

I wish he could have gotten to him. Can`t blame the guy at all.

Hits very close to home for me today. A friend of my daughter and son in law`s was posted on the scanner page last night as a "Be On The Lookout". I knew he had been accused of some things a year or so ago but was never actually arrested,as far as I knew. He was banned from my daughter`s house at that time though. He ended up being arrested last night on Rape to a Minor and had a $100,000 bond. One of the scanner page admins(a friend) private messaged me and said that dispatch was also trying to book a hotel room for an attorney, she thinks for this guy. Anyway, today we get a Nixle alert from the Sheriff`s Dept. that he is being harged with sex crimes on young girls dating from 2010-2017. He coached many junior high and high school teams. And what really freaks me out? He has spent several nights sleeping in the same house as my grandchildren-supposedly too drunk to drive home. Or was that a ploy? Neither hubby or I ever liked the guy-just a hanger on with nothing to offer. Lists his occupation as "Golf Professional." 34 years old and still lives with Mama but pretty much couch surfs. My daughter`s friend actually used to leave her 3 yo daughter with him to be babysat all the time. Ugh.

I agree with WhatinThe; how did NONE of the parents have an inkling of this?

After the girls are accepted into training camps, they don't spend much time at home. I remember some gymnasts talking about the Karolyis and referring to them as surrogate parents. That was of course before all heck broke loose.

Even so, I'm sure there were parents who knew what was going on but they weren't going to destroy their daughters' dreams (and maybe their own) by coming forward.

I'm going to call this the "Sheila" story.

A friend of mine named Sheila....., a few yrs younger than me, when I knew her we were both in our 40s. She was super attractive (think Angela Bassett). Sheila had a child in her early 20s, took her daughter and fled in the middle of the night driving and old junker on fumes - as she said - to escape an abusive relationship. She said she was too ashamed to go back to parents so she got a low level job at a small company. Finished college at nights, got a better job, worked her way up the ranks, and eventually became Vice President of a corporation. Sheila was very prim/proper and also religious.

Anyway, one day we were talking about some story in the news about a serial rapist. She said if the man had ever touched her child, she would not bother calling the cops. I said "What would you do?"

She said "I would organize all my affairs and prepare written instructions for family and attorney. Then I would buy a gun and learn how to use it. Then I would find him, ask God to forgive me, and blow his brains out. I would sit and wait to be arrested. I know I would go to prison."

I said "I've heard people talk about ideas for revenge; but listening to you, I believe you."

Sheila calmly replied: "As God is my witness."

(Sheila got married, moved to another state, and last I heard her daughter is an M.D.)

However, the Ellie Nesler case comes to mind. Killed her son's molester and served time in prison. She died at 56 of breast cancer.

Yes,the Ellie Nesler case is a perfect example. Happened pretty close to us. She had so many supporters who wanted to see her set free. Sadly, she wasn`t. And her son didn`t fare so well in life afterwards. At least not in his early adulthood-hopefully better now.

I wish all the dads of these girls could be alone (and not responsible for their actions) with that animal for awhile.

I had a similar thought...if all the dads would have been in the court and reacted similarly ? There wouldn't be much the officers could have done. You see that while being dutifully forceful , they were at the same time showing compassion.

It is hard, and likely wrong to speculate...so i won't but....I truly do not think we have heard everything yet?

Can anyone imagine even having Nasser as a neighbor?.....child porn AND molesting a countless number of girls. Makes my skin crawl.

I realize that when situations such as this case arises that emotions run deep. As a parent, our first reaction is to protect our children and when something like this happens to them, do we blame ourselves for "not seeing the signs" or wonder why we were not informed of the actions of the predator at the time when they were happening?

From a law enforcement officer's view, I can personally tell everyone that there is some type of bond among youths that they do not talk to adults about personal issues such as this. If a kid is being harassed or bullied, chances are they will not tell anyone. This is why if you go into a school, you will see posters about bullying, it asks that kids who see another kid being bullied to report it because more than likely, the kid being bullied will not for fear of further retaliation.

Same thing here. We don't know if this mindless person may have in any way threatened to harm the child or her family if she reported it. Just like rape, it's all about controlling their victim. And, more than likely, the predator normally does not start out performing his egregious acts the very first time that he meets his victim. There is a grooming process that is used. First, the predator will gain the trust of their victim. Then, they may start out by some light touching or even just holding hands. From there, it continues to escalate until the predator has complete control of the victim's mind. If it is let go long enough, to the victim, it almost seems like normal behavior. I know that sounds unreal, but it is the way the process works.

I can also understand the dad's need to retaliate or get revenge. However, doing so in a courtroom is very dangerous for everyone inside that room, especially if any weapons are involved. The judge in this case was very lenient, maybe too lenient. So now, I make make a few enemies when I say that the judge, being a female, may have worked in favor of the Dad. The judge had several options, but believe it or not the defendant in this case could have asked that charges be brought against the Dad for assault. No doubt, the case would have been dismissed, but it would have cost the Dad some money to have a lawyer.

It's a good thing that they got this person, but keep in mind that there are many more out there just like him and some even worse. I used to often wonder how many girls were being held against their will in the basement of a child predator and being used as sex objects. And, not just kids, but young adult females, as well.

Nessler has just received an additional 60-100 years in prison. That plus the federal charge and the previous sentencing brings his total to 360 years in prison. Convicts are not fond of child molesters and it is likely that Nessler will end up being some convicts wife. Seems fitting to me. Rather like poetic justice.
