Do you have a matching set of dishes and glasses ?

.

I have lots of vintage "Texanware" plastic glasses.

I have a set of 'Spring Blossom Green' Corelle dishes I bought when I first set up housekeeping on my own.

I also have vintage stainless steel cookware and iron skillets [most I inherited from my mother, along with her "Butterfly Gold" Corelle dishes.]

I also have my mother's vintage apple design Franciscan dishes she used for special occasions... but those are packed away and I don't use them.

You have the Franciscan ware apple pattern dishes and don't use them? What a shame not to enjoy them! I've always admired that pattern. I have the white raised seashell pattern which I use.

I hope you get to enjoy your dishes very soon!

Yes, I found a set of Corelle wear at Kmart several years ago. I was looking for a prettier set of dishes and knew right away they were it. I never use the cups though. We prefer mugs. I had mismatched mugs, even a couple from Micro Center. I finally picked up a set of matching mugs from Dollar Tree late last year. They're rainbow colored and the colors somewhat match my dishes.

I prefer mugs too, but only have 4 that match, have a few others but it doesn't matter, as there's only two of us everyday, anyway. About 2 years ago I picked up these Pioneer Lady mugs at Walmart...

I have a huge set of the Franciscan Café Royale dishes; same as the Desert Rose pattern but in tan and brown. My late husband bought me a set in the early 80's and I picked up pieces here and there for years. I haven't used them for probably 20 years. I've tried selling them but there doesn't seem to be a great demand for that particular pattern, which was discontinued after a few years. They looked really nice in the china cabinet, but the china cabinet was sold with the house, so now they reside in a couple of packers in the pantry until I can foist them off on an unsuspecting descendant.

If I had it to do over again, I would have gone with the Desert Rose pattern.

Jujube, I had fun looking up your Franciscan pattern, with others mentioned:

I agree Radish Rose, we need to use everything that we've had setting on the back burner all this time. Get it out and use it!!

I have two sets of matching dishware, we don't do fancy or formal, so these both are casual. Dansk and Fiesta in these colors.

Back in the day my mom‘s best friend died, leaving all of her “good things” - dishes, tablecloths, linens, etc packed away. The widower remarried and his new wife used all of his deceased spouse’s things. At that point, my mom btought out all of her own good things and began using them. So, I have followed her example and use my good things every day.

Sensible.. I'd hate to think someone else was using my nice things in my own home..

oooh so do I, just this morning I was looking to see if I could find her floral Food mixer online... I would love that... never seen one like that anywhere..

Do you mean her Kitchenaid mixer? Or one of her own products? I know there are decals you can buy to put on a Kitchenaid.

I have a set of Royal Albert. It gets used about once a year. No one seems to use fine china any more.

My MIL has enough "Old Country Roses" to fill two warehouses. She and I share our love of pretty tableware. Get them out and use them, Sunny. Tea is so much better in a pretty cup and saucer.

Years ago the lot my house was on backed up to the athletic dormitory of a university. The boys would stand on the balcony and toss glasses from their dining hall into my back yard. Why? IDK. Anyway I got a whole matching set of 8 from it (not counting the ones that broke). There are only 2 left. :(

I have a lovely set of old Noritake china that I use only for "best." I used to use it a lot more back when I always had Christmas dinners, etc. at my house. Now the china mostly serves to fill up the china cabinet. It is too delicate to really use everyday and it must be hand washed.

.

My mom collected dishes that come inside oatmeal.
