Don't you want to strangle them, picky people ordering food?

There's always one! The van is packed for a road trip, and off you go. There's this super famous hot dog place miles and miles away, but you have to have one of those delicious dogs. Hours later, you're in line. everybody is ordering franks. Except for the one, who only wants a no onions, medium rare hamburger, which takes a year and a day to get from the grill. Don't you want to strangle them?

There is a place in Lafayette , Ind...called [if I remember correctly] Doug's , Dogs & Suds. I live east of Cincinnati....I have ridden over there twice just to get a slaw-dog [ft long] & a mug of ice cold root beer....sit out on the deck & enjoy !

First time i was there was just a lunch stop while on a trip....two other times were on purpose....just for the treat of it all.....yum,yum !!

Is the XXX Root Beer Drive In still open in West Lafayette? We went to their other location in Issiquah, WA and had the best root beer of my life and really good food.

My sister came to visit and treated us all at a restaurant. Her daughter asked the waiter one hundred questions about her order, took her longer to order than the rest of us six put together. Our orders came and hers came half hour later. My sister was so angry she didn't leave the waiter a tip. I felt sorry for him.

I don't get the madness people have for Chic-Fil-A. Yesterday (Saturday) the traffic in their parking lot needed a Harris County cop to direct traffic. I did not believe until she told me. Their food is ok but the drive thru lines are always very long at lunch time and even if the food was the best waiting in line for that long is dumb.

Dog N' Suds used to be a chain in the Chicago area way beck when. Fabulous root beer in frosted mugs.

Ah, you junk food junkies. I left the lines behind when I became a vegetarian (later, a vegan) some forty years ago. I cook amazing meals, sit on my favorite couch with my dog, Max, we eat at a leisurely pace, and then we go out to play in the yard. He may be one of the only dogs in this world who relishes sauteed and browned tofu, along with homemade zucchini noodles, asparagus, and sun-dried tomatoes. Yum!

I dare you to offer your dog a piece of your tofu and a piece of pork sausage at the same time - and tell us which one the dog took first

I tend to agree. I think their main attraction is they're something different from all the McDonalds and Burger Kings, but not to different like Panda Express.

You would lose your dare/bet. My dog keeps Kosher! He routinely turns his nose up at offers from carnivores, when we're out and about. Farmed/livestock pigs are filthy animals, (and I quickly add) not by choice, but by the deplorable conditions they are subjected to in factory farming. I took care of a pig, for a summer. He was a great guy, very intelligent and very clean, because he was a pet. Mud wallows are used by many animals to fight parasites in their environment. This gives pigs a bad rep that they don't deserve. MEAT IS MURDER, GO VEGAN!

Back to the original question... Those folks don't bother me. Worse, to me, are the ones who haven't decided what they want yet, especially the ones that wait until they get to the the front of the line to ask their kids what they want. I would write it all down first and read it off the list.

My wife is one of those people. Not picky, just oblivious to the world around her. We average about once per month at Mickey D's. We have been going there 40 plus years. The menu has changed only slightly over these years, there are only about 3 items she has ever ordered there. Yet when we arrive at the front of the line, she acts like an Alien being that has just been beamed into this strange world of epicurean delights
She stands there staring intently and then orders one of her few go toos. Drives me nuts!

Argh. "Those people." The same ones who are writing checks at the grocery store--wait until their entire order is rung up and bagged to start fumbling in their purse for the checkbook, can't find a pen, don't know the date, have 5,000 coupons, etc.:mad: "Let's GOOOOOO, LADY!!!" :D

Patience is a virtue and I am far from virtuous.

I'm not bothered by picky people, or people who take up a lot of time. What would bug me though- haven't seen it in person, but occasionally see in the news- are people who aren't happy with their orders and start hassling the cashiers or other employees. One example made the news a day or so ago- the customer wasn't happy with her sandwich, and chucked it at the waitress.

Thats one thing I notice Canadians don't do yet it's popular in the States.

Writing checks.

It's either credit card or debit card or cash.

Id propose there should be a male only checkout lane.

Lol, you'd love me! I still use checks at the supermarket, but I completely fill them out in one of the aisles out of the way, so at the register, pen in hand, I just need to put in the amount. I'm generally pretty considerate of others in a lot of situations, but I do have some patience for folks I have to wait for. Except for maybe the ones who have all their groceries bagged and don't have enough money to pay for them. They never bothered to add things up as they went along with cash restrictions. Then they have the cashier paw through all of the bags, removing steaks and ribs, etc., subtracting from their bill as she muddles through it all....feel sorry for those cashiers.

If someone's at a fast food place, I figure they have to eat it so they should be able to order things the way they want them, I don't mind that at all.
