Dontcha Just Love Plastic Packaging?.

Damn---I am still fussing around trying to open up this package of batteries without slashing a finger or two.

That hard plastic bubble wrap is hard to break into sometimes, I use a large pair of scissors for some packages, safer than a sharp knife.

Packaging is getting more and more "robust"....probably to slow down the shoplifters. A pair of scissors is generally the best, and safest way to open some of these packages.

Now that China is refusing to buy our plastic waste you can save space in your recycling. Just go throw them in the Pacific, that's where it'll end up anyway.

I think that the manufacturer's should pay to have them disposed of, maybe they will rethink using plastic for packaging.

I bought all my adult family members one of these for stocking stuffer a few years back, I still have mine use it often

Little box cutters have always worked for me. Cuts through tough plastic very easily. And pretty safe, too.
Scissors take a lot more work, and are hard on the hands.

I read somewhere that a hand crank can opener can be used to open hard plastic packaging. But I couldn't get it to work, so I use my kitchen scissors.

Absolutely. A person shouldn't need tools, or risk injury, just to open something they purchased.
The first example that came to mind: decades ago, those large heavy-plastic things that cassette tapes were sold in. I can't recall anything recent, but it's pesky for sure.
