Complaints about BINGO at the Senior's

We usually play BINGO at out monthly local senior's meeting. It's not regulated like a game where people have to pay for every card they play. It's free to play for small, inexpensive prizes (like night lights, dish towels, hand sanitizer, etc.). Lately some of the newer attendees have had issues with how the BINGO game is run. As it is now, a player can take as many cards as they feel comfortable playing since there is no cost. Some can handle up to 8 cards, some have trouble with playing one. The people that take one card are saying it not fair to them for others to take so many more cards; everyone should only be allowed one card to be fair. I can see both sides, but what's your opinion?
 

You should volunteer to form a committee to make rules and then everyone should vote on them. You should also supervise the bingo games to make sure everything runs smoothly. Make sure new members get a copy of the rules. If there are more complaints, tell people to put them in writing and the committee will review and make a ruling. :wink1:
 
I like YOUR idea Jim !!!! LOL

I'd say the first card is free ... any more than that should cost money. When people have to shell out money , they might just take the free one.
 
I'd say that I'd have to be pretty desperate to even play bingo - -but that's just me. I do know a lot of old folks who enjoy it and maybe when I get a bit older I'll take it up. Right now I'm only 84 and it doesn't hold any appeal. :)
 
I don't play bingo, and probably should stay out of this discussion, but it sounds to me like the fairest thing is Toomuchstuff's idea. Let the first card be free for everyone, after that they can buy additional cards.

Amen! Bingo may work for many but not me............................Boring!!!
 
You should try playing Strip Bingo. Losers have to shed a piece of clothing for every losing Bingo card they have. Once they figure it out you'll have no more problems.
 
At my mother's nursing home, they allowed only 1 card per person because that was the only way they could be fair. In my town's senior center where you buy cards for $1 each, you can buy as many as you can play.
 
Depending on your state, it would not be legal to pay for what is actually gambling, even if it's for charity.

The ones running the show should be able to make or keep the rules as they are because it's free for all players.

The odds with more cards are not substantially different to worry about and having to supervise players.

You can draw 8 lousy cards consistently.
 
I don't play Bingo... but I'm with the same number of cards brigade... as it's free, and there's small prizes involved then everyone should have the same chance at winning..

C6, it's strongly advised that you keep away from any submissions that involve math concepts, with your answer to another math post in mind. (That fish one.) The odds of winning BINGO definitely increase, and can increase substantially, as you increase the number of cards you are playing, depending on how many cards are in the starting set.
 
My kids went to Catholic school, bingo was mandatory for a parent to work not play,or tuition was doubled.
1 card,but good luck on the enforcement, never seen so many superstitious people in 1 place as used to show up on Wednesday, that spoof that Roseanne did many years back was spot on!

O.K. Give everyone 8 cards. That will even things out.

Look. It's fun. A person used to 8 cards will be bored with one card and quit.

My point was, the volunteers running the show should be able to make the rules.

This political correctness trying to make things even for all, is going to far when it invades a seniors free bingo.

That's what bingo is all about . A social night out. It's not like going to a bingo parlor where you pay for your cards.

You can stay with math concepts but stay away from social concepts.
