What Is It? - #6

R.I.P. With Us In Spirit Only
There is one small piece missing on this item; if I hadn't eliminated it, it would have been a giveaway! But it was purely decorative and in no way would change what and how this was used.

  • Material: Aluminum
  • Size: 5 1/4" long x 3 1/2" wide
  • Circa: 1943

What is it?

Used for cleaning paint brushes???

^^^ That's what I had in mind too, or an artist's paint table/brush cleaner.

Yeah, it looks like something to do with artist brushes maybe, a receptacle for cleaner, grooves to lay the brushes in and the round holes could hold the brushes or paint tubes...it's very small.

Wow - 3 strikes in a row! I'm SMOKIN' !!!

Nope, nope, sorry - not a paint-brush cleaner ... let me know when y'all give up!

Hint #1: Some of us might have found it handy recently.[/QUOTE]

Maybe the holes are used for holding canes or umbrellas? You said you took one part off, so perhaps some kind of gadget to help take off shoes??

No, sorry - the part I air-brushed out is in no way essential to the operation of this gizmo. It was just decorative, not even a part of the original machine. It WOULD give away the game, though! ;)

Spill it man - what the heck is it???

"Spill it"? That reminds me of a story from my youth ... I was walking down the street one day ...

"coyly"

Somehow, Phil, "coyly" is not a word I associate with you!

Aw, shucks!

OK, I guess the torture has gone on long enough...

The item pictured at the beginning of this post ...

... that is to say, the picture of the item, that I linked into here on SeniorForums.com ...

... which does not of course mean that the owners and administrators of said forum agree with and support all of my statements ...

.... anyway ....

... what were we talking about?

OH, yeah!

It's an Easter Egg Painting Machine !!!

You placed the egg on top of the roller and turned the crank slowly while holding a paint brush against the egg, thus creating a somewhat even line around the egg. You then placed it in one of the holes on the rack to dry.

The part of the picture that I whited out?

... a little bunny. :p

Thanks for playing!

Had a neighbor with chickens awhile back. One was called an Easter Egger and laid colored eggs. Nothin' fancy, but pretty cool.

Now see, it ain't NICE to fun with the city boy!

Next you'll be telling me that chocolate milk comes from brown cows, and butter from butterflies!

I wasn't sure whether or not you were kidding me so I had a look-see, and lo and behold there actually IS a breed called an Easter Egger!

You should get out of the city and visit some of us "hillbillies" for a while....I can't promise you rusty car bodies and several large dogs of dubious breeds and character, (only the Gangstas whose parentage is verified) but the fresh air, "clear mountain mornings, little warm puppies, children and girls of the..." oh wait...wrong song... LOL
