Do you ever pray against something?

well the Budhha seemed to be big on the Karma thingo - and it seems kinda neat - keep doing good and ya get good [not immediately except from satisfaction ] keep doing bad and ya get bad but that I think is ya just makin yaself bad - like the Louise Hay concept - those that hate eat themselves away with negativitity

Yes Buddhist’s believe in reincarnation and karma but even bad karma doesn’t have to be paid back if one stays in a state of grace according to most religions.

Louise Hay is great for teaching positive affirmations and Kate Byron is famous for her saying “Is it true? “
She believes that we suffer from thoughts we tell ourselves.

Both great spiritual teachers.

I'm like you Olivia...I wish I could bring myself to wish those who've caused me hurt or harm.....harm to themselves, but you know I don't do it simply because I believe in a higher power, and I feel that if retribution needs to be dealt out then there's an all seeing God who will make ensure that those who deserve Karma on my behalf will not fail to get it!!

Exactly. Sometimes I wish Karma worked a little faster!

I have people that watch over me for the big things, don't know who they are, but they have taken care of things when its gotten out of hand. Yes I've prayed for things to happen to certain people, I think we all go to the same place, when we die no matter what we did on earth, god has instilled in me that I have something to do here, don't know what it is. Just an old man going off.

heh I like that one " we suffer from thoughts we tell ourself" an interesting mantra perhaps - we could repeat that throughout the day and then refrain!!

I have prayed for the Yankees to lose. Is that the same thing??

That doesn't work against the Yankees, Hoot. What you have to do is sell your soul to the Devil.

Our theatre group is putting on Damn Yankees this fall. That musical is a highly accurate portrayal of what it takes to get the Yankees to lose a pennant. (I'm one of the baseball players. Our team is nearly
all woman. Ah, how times are changing... but the problem with the Yankees remains the same.)

Love that show! How fun to be doing it with a nearly all female cast. Do you have a man playing Lola?

No, Lola will be played by an extremely talented, gorgeous woman in her 60's. We haven't "advanced" to the point of having a male Lola yet. :D

Growing up in NJ, I was a Dodger fan until they moved to L.A. Never forgave them for that.

I am now a fan of the Nats, who are taking us on a wild ride this season.

LOL - my father grew up in Brooklyn and was a big fan of Dem Bums. When the family moved west for his new job we found ourselves less than 15 miles from gorgeous Dodger Stadium. Dad quickly decided that 15 years was long enough to hold his grudge. He forgave, forgot, and went to many a Dodger game.

I haven't prayed against someone although I would not be surprised, gleeful, sad if certain things happened(although I can't account for what comes out of my mouth like when another driver cuts me off or seconds before lottery numbers are announced). I also 'wished' others would do certain things or take a different stance.

I tend to wait for karma or fate.

We never/ever pray against anything. Never.

But, I'll bet since LeBron James left Cleveland (NBA) and will now be with the Lakers, there are plenty of Cleveland fans who are praying he won't make it with the Lakers. Whenever a top-quality athlete leaves one team, due to Free Agency) and goes to another, really wonder how the fans of the team they were with take it. Just like when the Dodgers went to L.A. or the L.A. Raiders went to Oakland...…..how the fans took it.
