Pope against capital punishment

I wonder how the pope would feel about serial killers or tyrannical world leaders who torture and execute millions like Adolf Hitler did?

Yup, Leviticus is full of all sorts of great ideas, such as chopping off the hands of thieves, and killing anyone who does not observe the Sabbath properly. We should definitely use that as our
model for how to deal with criminal behavior. Or any behavior which does not meet the approval of religious authorities. :nightmare:

Chic, it would be interesting to hear the Pope's answer to your question. Probably he'd say, "Lock them up for life, no parole, solitary confinement if you really want to punish them." Some punishments are worse than death.

I suppose life without parole would be a terrible fate unless one is like Charles Manson was who felt more comfortable in prison than out.

He'd probably say, "All they need is a hug."

I have noticed through the years that more and more people who have lost a loved one by being murdered has asked the judge to please give the person found guilty of criminal homicide life w/o parole, which here in Pennsylvania, once a person is convicted and sentenced to life, life means life. There is no parole.

I have also noticed that more and more defendants that have been found guilty of criminal homicide and given the death penalty have requested the judge and their defense attorney to please fast track their sentence.

WRONG !!

Obviously you have your books and religions confused.

God's Biblical punishment for theft is restitution to the victim.

KingsX, you're right, I was quoting the wrong book of the Bible. (Though Leviticus is full of that kind of stuff.) It was Deuteronomy 25:12:

"If two men are fighting, and the wife of one steps in to rescue her husband from the one striking him, and she reaches out her hand and grabs his *******s, you are to cut off her hand. You are to show her no pity."

(I wonder if the same is true if the sexes are reversed?)

Considering damaging a man's *******s might "kill" any future children,
she's fortunate only her hand is cut off.
