Even though they will never know...I feel I want to thank all the firefighters , fighting these fires. I do not live there,[I'm in Ohio] but a friend survived the Santa Rosa fire just last year. He said it is every bit as bad as shown on the evening news. He & the [then] wife fled in the middle of the night, but somehow..???..their place [her property] was left untouched.

My thanks goes out to all the firefighters from other nations as well...maybe even an extra thumbs up !! New Zealand was the only nation noted on the broadcast I heard....but who ever is helping we all owe a bit of gratitude .

Australia also.
10 States Send Relief Crews for Exhausted California Firefighters

I know NJ and I think MD. Cal Fire spokesman Daniel Berlant said that crews from Nevada, Oregon and Arizona are helping battle California wildfires.

Also inmates. I can't find a total list. I think Montana, too.

Those fires are horrible. I have a close friend who lives near Sacramento and the air quality/smoke are bad even far away from the actual blaze.

They're TERRIBLE ! Wonder how they start? Arsonist, lightening..........WHAT ???

Some of both, Falcon. One started when a tire blew and the rim created a spark on the pavement. It's natural for CA to have dry weather and wildfires. But, since people filled up the state, more structures to be burnt, more car emissions, more accidents, etc. It's over populated for what the natural climate is like.

One of my BFFs lives in Cali and every so often I check with her to make sure the fires are no where near her. She seems confident that the area she lives in will be safe from them. I think it's such a terrible thing that these people lose their homes, businesses, vehicles and in some cases loved ones and pets. Watching the fires engulf so much land is frightening and unbelievable; the loss of life is heartbreaking.

It's amazing the risks that these firefighters make considering the money they make.

According to one source on the internet, t[FONT=&quot]he average salary for a Wildland Firefighter is $13.32 per hour in California.

Couple of my buddies are there now
Room and board is paid for
One said it's quite normal to collapse wherever you are, and grab a few Zs

They're both smoke jumpers

Australian firefighters are there now.

A decision will be made today on the deployment of Australian firefighters to the United States to help battle bushfires across the north-west of the nation.

US firefighters have worked to put out 89 large fires, which have burned more than 3,760 square kilometres over the peak summer period.

The National Multi-Agency Coordination Group (MAC) in the US formally requested assistance over the weekend, seeking 188 specialist firefighters from Australia and New Zealand. The firefighters would be deployed for up to 42 days in the California area.

Forest bushfire experience important

South Australian Country Fire Service spokesman Brett Williamson said the most suitable firefighters to come forward in South Australia so far had experience fighting fires in areas with rough terrain and forests.

"We are finding it is more the state-based ones — in particular [those from] the South East and the Port Lincoln area … that are the ones who will probably have the beneficial skills that the United States [is] searching for," Mr Williamson said.

A group of Houston firefighters left today to help out and give the Ca. guys a break. One of them said that the Ca. guys came and helped us with Harvey last year so they are returning the favor!! My prayers for all being said daily!!

I checked the History of California wildfires.

In modern times, from 2000 to 2017 there has been a wildfire every year.

It just seems it goes with the territory like Banladesh waiting for the monsoons every year.

It's something that can never be fixed or eliminated.

We've had many smokey days and sometimes ash covering everything. Air quality is rated unhealthy and the UV index for today is very high. Also the high temp for today is 103. We are advised to stay inside and limit any outside physical activity. I can't even start to think what it's like for all those firefighters out there fighting these huge fires. God bless them and please keep them safe.

I thanked a bunch of them myself when I came home to check on things the other day. They were here to gather up their hoses and told me how close we came. (Not that they needed to-the burnt grass right at the end of our property told us all we needed to know.) Ironically, the group of firefighters who saved our home came from the neighboring city to where we moved here from 26 years ago-3.5 hours away. And they all get waves and kisses blown whenever we pass them on the streets. Every other car you pass right now is a fire engine.

This is already one of the worst fire seasons on record for California....if not the worst....and it may well continue into the Late Fall, early Winter.

So does this mean your home is no longer in danger and you can move back soon? Did you find your cats?

The man suspected of igniting the Holy Fire in Southern California was charged on Thursday with three counts of felony arson, among other offenses.

Forrest Gordon Clark, 51, was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of setting off a blaze that has now burned more than 10,000 acres in Orange and Riverside counties, damaging or destroying at least 14 structures. As of Thursday morning, the fire was just 5 percent contained.

In addition to arson, the Orange County District Attorney charged Clark with two felony counts of resisting arrest and with making criminal threats. He faces a maximum sentence of life in prison. Bail has been set at $1 million.

According to the Orange County Register, Clark sent an email last week that allegedly said, “This place will burn.’

We are back and just waiting for the fire restoration company to come out. Everything smells like smoke. We probably shouldn`t even be here but we wanted to come home. The foster girls went to visit relatives so we felt fine about coming home. All cats are present and accounted for. My donkey will be home Saturday morning :)

Happy for you.

Good luck Mrs. R. :love_heart: Smoke smells or no, it must feel good to be home.
