Thank you, CindyLou. I'm on Oahu. Just starting to panic. I don't live on the coast or in a flood zone. Just mainly worried about the wind. The hurricane is still Category 4 but really close to Category 5. Don't expect a direct hit but the outer winds and rain will be bad enough. The forecast itself changes by the minute and some say it will weaken but that's not certain. Could even strengthen. All in all just have to wait and see. Here on Oahu it's a hurricane watch along with Kauai and we'll start to feel it Thursday afternoon. Big Island along with Maui is in a hurricane warning, mainly the southern side of the Big Island is expected to be hit the hardest. Rainfall is starting on the the Big Island. But as I said, mainly the info is all over the map. Doesn't look though like the luck we've had recently with hurricanes.

Again, thank you so much, Cindy Lou, for thinking of me and all of us here in Hawaii.

I thought all the islands would have evacuated by now.
I suspect you'll lose power at least. Do you have any back up for communication?
Do you have lots of water to last you a week or two? Be safe.
You're in my prayers.
:fingerscrossed:

Thanks for letting us know how it's going there. Hopefully it will weaken by tomorrow. I agree, the winds are frightening, I've been through a couple.
Keep us posted & take care, Olivia!

The only evacuation would be to shelters for those living in flood zones. No one going to them yet. Too early too really tell.

Yes, we have a lot of bottled water and will have to fill up other receptacles for toilets, etc. (I hate that part. It strains my arms).

We have a couple of landline phones that don't need to be connected to a power outlet along with others that do have to be. And cellphones are being charged to the max. Verizon has seemed to be the most reliable, although we're told to only use them when necessary to keep lines open for emergencies.

Thank you, Lara, for your prayers. We can use all we can get here.

I'll be rushing out for more batteries in a few minutes. I am embarrassed to admit I have not been keeping up with local news lately and so this is catching me somewhat off guard. I've been mostly watching ID Discovery, that's a whole other thread. :p

Okay, you're doing great. Stay on top of the news. Thankfully, you're on high ground.

Yes, I'm glad for that being on higher ground. Driving by, you can see the houses up above. Not on a mountain side, but on a plateau. I wouldn't feel comfortable on a mountain side. And we have hurricane clips on the roof.

Thank you, Lara, I'll stay on the news and I'll report back. Got the AA Batteries I was out of. And more tuna. I've already had lots of sliced bread, hot dog buns, hamburger buns and bagels. I guess one can't be worried about high carb in this kind of time. :D

Definitely, Cindy Lou, you would know about hurricane winds, heavy rain, and thunderstorms living where you do. I really hope Florida will have some relief from that kind of thing this hurricane season. I'll keep my fingers crossed and prayers said for you all there. I'll keep you posted.

I just heard one weatherman say that this hurricane was going to be more about rain than wind. I read in your post #5 that you aren't in a flood zone and more worried about the winds so this is relatively good news for you.

Sending you lots of positive energy too,Olivia. Be careful and stay safe.

Thank you, Butterfly. Oahu is now under a Hurricane Warning. And just heard we are now under d serious danger which I just heard on the TV news. I just want to believe it's not. But what can you do.

Take the best care you can Olivia.. get to the safest place you can if it's at all possible.

We had a hurricane once about 12 years ago..it blew the roof off my house..I've never been so scared... so my thoughts are with you and yours to be safe!!
