This weekend is Thanksgiving here in Canada. I’d like to wish my fellow Canadians a lovely weekend.
I’m cooking a turkey / ham dinner with all the trimmings for 3 generations of family and taking it all up to my parents house this Sunday. Since my parents are older I want to make the most out of every holiday and will take plenty of pictures to share for years to come.

What are your plans for this weekend ?

Anyway I wish all my fellow Canadians a wonderful weekend.

Have a great weekend all in Canada and
of course all Canadians wherever you are
in the World.

Happy Canadian Thanksgiving to Keesha and Shalimar!! (And anyone else from Canada that I may have missed)

My wife is from Windsor, Ontario and I've cooked her a Canadian Thanksgiving dinner every year we've been together (9). This year she's helping because of my foot surgery.

Thanks so much everyone.
I’ve been cooking since Friday night and am now finished.
I roasted a 12 pound turkey and a big ham. There’s gluten free stuffing and regular stuffing, creamy mashed potatoes, gluten free cheese sauce, regular cheese sauce, steamed broccoli and cauliflower, gluten free gravy, cranberry sauce, salad, devil’s food cake gluten free cupcakes ( extra large with chocolate icing )
Tomorrow we are buying pies and ice cream when we get there.

I wish I’d taken a picture of the bird before it was cut apart for traveling but everything put away in Pyrex so it can be heated in the microwave as is. Normally we use fine China but I want to look through family photos and share special moments with my family instead of washing dishes so I know this sounds a tad tacky but I bought paper plates. They’re nice fancy ones.

Once the table is set I’ll try and remember to take pics of all the food I made. It was a long day and tomorrow’s going to be longer. I’m going to take some beautiful scenic autumn pics for you all.

Thanks again. You people are so very nice.

Thanks for the kind words. I feel so glad to be alive. Yesterday, I went down town in our city to the library & was very surprised to see all the "down & outers" just sitting around doing nothing. Keeping warm I guess. Then we returned to our beautiful condo with the 2 water fountains outside, the gym inside & the common room. With a decent pension to buy what we need, eat healthy food & travel if we want to, we consider ourselves very lucky & have much to be thankful this weekend & every weekend of the year.

:love_heart:Thanks for the best wishes. Monday I will be at a church helping to serve Thanksgiving dinner to those less fortunate than I. Once I was where they are. My gratitude at escaping that life remains, gotta pay it forward.

Thank you once again.
You people really are wonderful.

It took us an extra hour to get up to my parents because everywhere I looked was picture worthy. The drive was simply magical. It was foggy and dull but still magical so I took lots of pictures.

We pass by lots of mennonites with the route we take and yesterday was no different. We passed many black horse driven buggies. It was nostalgic.

Of course we HAD to stop for the donkeys. My husband said we had pictures of the donkeys but not of them sitting down.

This is my husband petting other dogs.
I’m framing it for our girls to see.
Hey Seabreeze. It’s a golden doodle that looks a bit like your dog. He was so cute.

We got there early as expected so I could set up the table nicely. We had a dusty rose table cloth with matching serviettes.
The chrysanthemums I bought my mom had a matching flower in the middle.
I buffed up all the glasses and silverware, got everything set up, the food was warmed up , the wine chilled and forgot to take a picture. I especially wanted to take one for you Ruth from New Jersey cause you showed us your table spread did Easter and I remembered it. It was beautiful. Sorry. :(

The meal was gobbled up gratefully and everyone said how good it was so I’m assuming I did good

After the meal , my brother , husband and I went for a walk. The rest stayed and cleaned up which was a pleasant surprise.
Silly me. I left with boots on. DOH so here is my husband carrying my boots for me as I walk in my stockings and skirt :lofl:

It was a beautiful day but by the time we got home we basically went straight to bed.

Thanks for letting me share my magical day with you all. I hope your weekend was magical too.

Beautiful photos Keesha, thanks for sharing! So happy you all had a good time and they loved your cooking, can't ask for more than that! Enjoyed the pics of all your doggies, and that one does look like mine, even his 'unsure' expression looking at the bigger dog. :D

Keesha, you got some great color in the foliage pics! Loved the dogs, too and your commentary.

So glad others pitched in to clean up and that you had a good time! Thanks for sharing!
