Do you like your REAL name?

Yes I like my real name . Considering that my Mother had never picked out a name for me because she didn't think I would survive after losing my twin, and she named me after the nurse that helped deliver me and the name isn't crazy.

Your real name RR is not common in this country in females... I like your name...

I don't like my name, never have, I remember even as a tiny tot , when asked.. inventing a name or giving my middle name because I disliked my name so much.. I wish I'd officially changed my name many years ago..too late now!!

What about you keesha?

No. I'd like to have a really cool name.

Like Joe Montana.

Now that is a cool name for a dude.

And I'd wanna look like Kyle Chandler in Friday Night Lights.

Yep, If i could be named Joe Montana and look like Kyle Chandler in Friday Night Lights, that would be awesome.

No, I wish I had changed it when I was younger. It doesn't sound so bad, it's just so unusual that every time I meet someone for the first time I have to go through a long explanation of the meaning, origin, etc.
Not even that interesting a story, my mother looked it up in a name dictionary. When my three children came along, they got very ordinary, common names.

I would have chosen something else. It is possible to change it, but not worth the trouble at this late date.

Really like my last name, it came to America in 1634.

My mother got my first and middle name from an obituary in the newspaper.

My first name is an alternate spelling for a pretty common name. I've always had to say "that's _________ but spelled with a _____________."

My middle name is also a fairly common name but missing a letter. "That's ___________ but without the second ______." It's pronounced differently, too. When I went to get a certified copy of my birth certificate when I was 18 for a passport, I found out that someone had crossed my middle name out on the original certificate on file in the courthouse and had rewritten it as the conventional spelling. My mother and I had to go before a judge to get it changed back.

My last name now.....it's my married name....if you see it, you will mispronounce it. If you hear it, you will misspell it. I've learned over the last 50 years to answer to anything that remotely sounds like it.

My maiden name always held me up for mild teasing.

When I was a kid, I always wanted to be named "Esmeralda" for some reason.

I don't hate my name, but I would have chosen something else. The worst part is the way it's pronounced in American English where a consonant in the middle of two vowels is pronounced as a hard consonant. I grew up hearing my name with the soft consonant. Just about everywhere in the world it's pronounced the way my family says it. Just for the heck of it I looked up on google how to pronounce my name, and sure enough the British and the Sweden version is the way that I feel right with, and the American version, does not. I know it sounds petty, but one's name is almost one's identity.

Fun fact. My daughter babysat for Joe Montana, back in the mid 80s. He lived down the street from us. Her best friend sat for Dwight Clark`s kids. He lived in the neighborhood as well.

I don't know if Dolly is your real name, but I have a cousin that we call Dolly. Her real name is DeEtta, but she didn't like it, so she asked everyone to call her Dolly. We have called her that since the late 50's.

My real name is Moddwyd, from an epic Welsh poem of the 14th centrality so I am quite proud of it.

I nave to be careful though. Morddwyd is known as "The Slayer of the Irish"!

Yipes gettin' outta here-

I never liked my name, so I started spelling it differently as a teenager. That continued, and I had it legally changed - last year. I dislike the original name somewhat less since discovering the very personal details of why my Father chose it.

No neither Holly Nor Dolly is my real name ( I've never heard of the name DeEtta, that's unusual)

Sunny I like your name, but yes I can understand you having to explain it when people ask...

Sounds more like a name from "Harry Potter." Now there's some cool names and places in those stories. Anyone here a HP fan?
