Hi my name is Joan, I'm 84 and wanting to connect! Hope its a great night.

Hi Joan, We welcome you. Look around, get to know us, and we will be glad to hear your whatever you want to tell us. I know you'll enjoy yourself. :bighug:

Good morning Joan, and welcome! I'd finally had enough Alaska cold come February and escaped to visit my sister in your area, warm sunshine, beautiful oaks to lie under and what a beautiful place Northern California is. She lives in Clearlake, are you near there?

lonelynorthwind-I am also on the shores of Clear Lake, but across the lake from the town of Clearlake (confusing,I know.Used to be called Clearlake Highlands to differentiate from the lake itself but they changed it some years ago). Anyway,I am in Lakeport-I`m sure your sister knows of it.

Welcome Joan! Whereabouts in Northern California are you?

He Joan, my sister works in Lakeport! She lives not far from there, on the other side of the lake I guess, it's called Clearlake Oaks. I loved the little shops in Lakeport, there's a hairdresser that has neat little consignment things in her shop, I 'bout bought her out. And isn't that where the guy sells his hot dogs on the street?
I was surprised how dry and brown everything was even in February, although it did start to rain when I left. makes me worry what's to come for you all later this summer. Sis had a beautiful huge oak tree in their front yard that shaded the whole house, it died and fell over last winter taking all their cool shade and privacy with it, gonna be a hot house this summer.

Thankfully we have gotten a good amount of rain since February-we are pretty green now. But yes, lots of oaks have been lost. Drove up to a street where we used to live one day-just four houses in the court and two lost huge oaks. One was our old house, luckily just took out the owner`s car, barely missing his son who was bringing in the groceries. The house across wasn`t so fortunate-tree went through the roof and shattered windows. What a mess!

Sadly.hot dog guy is no longer there. That was our friend Joey and his wife Lori. Their girls were my granddaughter`s best friends. They split up and both decided to move back to New York, where they are from. My daughter drove Lori and the girls to San Francisco and saw them off. It was heartwrenching, the girls were so sad :( Anyway,Joey supposedly sold the hot dog cart, but so far I have not seen it in the usual spot so maybe the guy took it elsewhere.

Sorry to hijack your thread Joan! And really hope you will be coming back! Would love to hear what part of Northern California you`re from!

:welcome: I love Cali (moved from Silicon Valley).

Long Live Santa Clara Valley (RIP)
