1969.

Graduated from college. Got immediately reclassified 1-A and received my draft notice one month later. Took that down to the Air Force recruiter and enlisted in order to avoid the Army where I would likely end up humping an M-16 and a 50 lbs ruck though the jungles and rice paddies of South Vietnam. Still got sent to Nam but I was an REMF and came back in one piece so I gotta give that decision a plus. Also married my ex wife in 1969. I give that one a big minus. Gotta be the worst mistake of my entire life. But that's all in the past. We've been divorced for 29 blissful years.

I feel a little guilty about calling my first marriage the biggest mistake of my life because I do like my kids a lot. Well 2 out of three anyway. Youngest son is kind of a jerk but the other two are fine. Of course the youngest son thinks I play favorites. And he's right about that. Little jerk.

Well actually he's 6-1 and 240 lbs, so make that big jerk.

Happened to be watching a PBS show about Hampton Court Palace the other night & was reminiscing to myself about when one of my best friends & I were visiting England & toured there. Started counting back and OMG, it was fifty years ago that we did that.

I was laying on the ground bleeding from a head wound and leg wounds, this happen later in the year.
