I have been struggling to eat better my whole life. I like the information I have found on this thread and I am going to try my hardest to incorporate some of these recipes into what I eat.

Hi Everyone, I am Senior Jean.

You say G'day. I guess in Texas we say Howdy, though I don't know if I've ever used that more than a handful of times I do say Hi Y'all!

Wow! This is fabulous. You are the gardener I would aspire to be, but I don't think you will ever have to worry that I will give you competition.

I love rosemary. The aroma is irresistible! You grow what you can.

    Do you enjoy spring gardening?

I want to grow the fruits so I don't have to pay the grocery store prices, but I don't want to grow them for the rats and squirrels. I may be having a fight with them in the future. Right now I'm trying to grow blackberries, strawberries, and grapes. I also have a small Chinese plum and an apple...

Hi Everyone, I am Senior Jean.

It's funny you should ask that. I live in Somerset, TX. Settlers from Somerset, England came to America and settled in New Jersey in a county named Somerset. Settlers then traveled to Kentucky and named the town where they settled Somerset. A group from Somerset, Kentucky then ventured to Texas...

Hi Everyone, I am Senior Jean.

I lived in Norwich, CT for a while with my sister when my brother-in-law was at the sub base in Groton. The foliage was so beautiful in fall, though the snow was a little much for a Texan.

    Do you enjoy spring gardening?

I grow mostly in raised beds. I have five. I also grow herbs in pots. I have black berries and a lemon tree in the ground. This year I'm trying strawberries and grapes. We'll see how that goes. I want to add to the fruit options so I can pick my own instead of buying in the grocery store...

That sounds great! We don't get the cold, but the heat is bad. You grow quite a few veggies. I just started last year so I'm still trying to figure out when to plant and what will survive the heat. I'm trying to eat healthier, not only for me, but for my doctor also, who will not give me any...

I hear that and second it about the watering. South Texas can get dry. Last year we had temps at 110. It was brutal.

    Do you enjoy spring gardening?

I have raised beds that I set up myself with cinder blocks. I have five beds and two large tractor tires that I plant. I'm planting tomatoes, squash, cucumbers, eggplant, green beans, and watermelon. Last year was my first try. The heat here was so brutal I hope I have better luck this year,
