LTC companies are betting you won't need it or rates are high enough to cover. They have resources to know odds are in their favor. So why bet against the house, their not in business to lose money. I'm 80 and wife 77 and fully independent and no LTC. Mom was in nursing home for 5 years...

LOL. When we retired, we moved to Washington, Ia. We lived about 40 miles away before, and sons' families live in the area. Spend couple of months in winter on the Gulf Coast and summers in Door County Wisconsin. That way miss most of the cold and hot of Iowa.
