Thanks for your thoughts.

That's the reason I'm in this mess, because I was that kid too, and I didn't want to be that neighbor. When I first moved here, I smiled and waved at everyone. I brought them fruit from the farmer's market and pies from the bakery. I was the "nice" one. I let a lot of stuff go. Things just got worse and worse over the years. Now the entitlement is crazy.

I had a neighbor who also did everything you suggested. She moved out years ago with a nasty thing to say about each of the neighbors.

For some people, being nice only allows them to be more manipulative and try to take advantage more. I wish I could still be the "nice" neighbor, but at this point, my safety and peace of mind are at stake.

Looking back at the things I did as a kid to my neighbors, I live with feeling bad for how much anguish I caused them. I didn't realize it. I remember riding my bicycle on my neighbor's garage floor because it had a smooth finish, dragging oil on the floor all over his garage in ugly loops from my bicycle tires that he could never get out. He told me he'd call the police. He was livid. If someone had told me how much pain and stress I probably caused that guy, I might have been a better human being.
Oh my. I never crossed into that kind of territory.

For my friends and me it was a plumber whose less than 1/4 acre property abutted his tract neighbors house as well as the the woodsy side of my parents' 5 acres. Going from my and my friends' more rural properties to that very large tract of houses (with lots of kids our age) either be accomplished by going through our woods and walking the property line between the plumber and his neighbor, or go a very long way around. So the kids cut through to get to the tract, and the tract kids cut through to get to us.

The plumber would come out, yell, scream, and occasionally chase us, but he was fat, enraged, out of shape and old (probably only in his 30s, now that I think back), while we were young, spry and knew those woods like the backs of our hands, so we'd lead the merry chase through the most vine-laden snaking pathways until he gave up.

Sometimes we didn't bother cutting across his lawn. Instead we'd yell, "Hey Plumberrrrr" toward his house from the safety of our own property. Made him crazy, which was great sport for us (much like the childish torture game of waving your hands in front of someone's face while saying, "I'm not touching you...").

Were we wrong? Of course. Our defense: being ages 8-11 ish. He was a grown man who should have been better at defusing the situation. His tract neighbor whose property line we trod equally, never gave us a hard time.

I'm sorry that your neighbor kids are giving you a rough go. If this is happening across many years, and it sounds like it is, you're probably dealing with a fresh group of children who never knew you as the nice neighbor.

Almost 40 degrees here with lots of sun and warmer weather BUT they said we might get a snowy mix tonight-southern tier NY.

I am planning hamburgers ,baked beans, and shrimp in Macaroni salad.

My PC has been messed up for two days! I started using Google Chrome for some reason and it really messed up my PC.
It had something to do with Google Extensions, so I removed them.

Then I had to get a new password to get here!

Yesterday we had about 2 inches of snow and the wind made the temps feel like 10 degrees when I went out to the dollar store.

Our TOPs Market is always crowded on the 1st of the month-so maybe I will get there Sunday.

I saw a Mallard pair flying in and swimming on our pond this morning. They might even start building a nest.
But I am afraid my three pups will scare them away. They don't tolerate anyone else on their territory.
Our pond is spring-fed and stocked with Mexican mosquito fish; so, we have never a mosquito problem.

Mallards are plentiful on mountain lakes -- my daughter is feeding them bread in winter.

When I got up it was a balmy 45 and just sprinkling a bit. Now it's a frigid 35 and pouring rain. Ugh.

DD has a doc appt tomorrow morning at 11 so I can only work until 10. That means I go in between 4 and 4:30. That also means I gotta get up so early that it'll be even too early to wake the roosters. Eek.

The upside of that early hour is that there's nobody in the store so I can work at warp speed, which is just a hair less than the speed of light. Ever see an old lady work at warp speed? No? It's almost as fast as when the old lady discovered that a branch on a path in the garden wasn't branch but a copperhead. That was faster than the speed of light, which we know is even faster than the speed of sound.

Time to rest. Glad that (most of) you behaved while I was gone.

Well, Dio has been sick again, all week. We don't have any test kits, but I suspect that he has COVID. And, of course, that means that I do/will also. So far, I've been fighting it! I've been feeling run down all week, so I've really been taking it easy....no gym, lots of naps etc.

Yesterday, we went to the library to print out some paperwork (staying away from everyone, of course), then we went to get our driver's licenses. Quick and easy, I got mine! They even took a nice picture of me, which surprised me because I really, really need a haircut!

Dio couldn't get his license because the clerk that he had "decided" that he should wait until it's closer to his expiration date, in mid July. Dio and I have always gotten our licenses at the same time before, but this time..... 😠

We've had problems similar to this years ago. I went to renew my license, and when the clerk found out about my vision impairment, she refused to renew my license. Notice the word "renew"....I was already issued a license, and nothing had changed with my condition. The clerk just " decided " that she wouldn't do it. In that case, Dio contacted the main office to complain....heads rolled....I got my renewal....never had a problem since then. Now it's his turn to get the clerk with issues!!! We didn't think of it at the time, but he probably should have just gone to the same window that I was at....I bet my clerk would have renewed his license!!!

Instead, he'll just go back in a few months.

After that, we came straight home, had a quick dinner, watched Heartland, and took naps.

Today had been more laying around, and tomorrow I expect a busy day at the rink.

I hope everyone is enjoying their day!

Here, the law clearly states that you may renew your license up to one year before the date it expires. Clerks have no choice in the matter.

We have issues with clerks who apparently want to "feel important", so they tell people what they can or can not do.

We probably should have taken it to a supervisor, but we weren't feeling good and just wanted to go home.

we don't go anywhere to have our licences renewed... we take our own photos and send them to DVLA when our licences are due for renewal..same with passports... and the DVLA or passport office do the rest...

Sounds like you had a real little jobsworth...

Hope you both feel better soon...
