How is your day Today, plans and achievements 2024....

Yesterday was an adventure, with flights to and from Madeira cancelled because of "adverse weather"—which makes you wonder because people were sitting outside in the sunshine—and we had to find accommodation, get a taxi, and hope that the plane will take off today. I must say that Booking.com is fantastic in this regard—completely uncomplicated.

Yesterday I finally accepted a call from OptumRX and spoke with a pharmacist who conducted my annual medication review. They had been calling me every day for over a month, sometimes twice daily. I am on new medications since the last review, so I did want to know if there were any drug interactions and there are none. However, I was advised of what to be aware of during long term use with a couple of them. Glad that’s taken care of.

I treated my son and granddaughter, who’s here for the week, to dinner at The Olive Garden. We picked my granddaughter up at her hotel and after dinner we went up so I could see her suite. Lovely, welcoming place. The lobby even smelled good when we first walked in. Hanging out was a lot of fun because we are a “crazy”, quite witty family. We enjoyed our meals and those breadsticks could be comfort food! Olive Garden gives a lot of food. My son’s salad was enough for two or three people and his eggplant parm was plentiful. I wound up bringing home most of my fettuccine alfredo with scallops and the minestrone.

It’s 3:20 a.m. and I’m late posting this because after I changed my clothes and watched T.V., probably not even for a half hour, I fell asleep. We were saying there should be a restaurant where you can eat, then nap. :D I’ve scooped litter, cleaned the bathroom and gathered the garbage for my son to take to the dumpster when he's on his way out to work. I’ve also re-sorted laundry so that most of the wash is the dresses and skirts I wear around the house. I will go downstairs shortly. Getting the laundry done will be today’s main accomplishment

Today's the day for our fortnightly shop. It's also the day when the electricity network people are disconnecting power in order to replace overhead cables. Just to make sure that I know about this, they sent me 4 letters over the past few weeks. Hopefully the power wont go off till after breakfast and be back on by dinner time. If it's off at lunch time, I've always got a camping stove and I can cook in the camper van too.
Not the best day for them because it's cold and wet - even some sleet this morning.

I've just seen a blackbird collecting nesting materials and heading to the log pile. Not the best place as it will be disturbed when we go to the garden. One year a blackbird built a nest on top of the campervan engine. I didn't notice it until I went to top up the screen wash and by then it was too late.

Driving to youngest daughter's today. About an hour and 15. Grand girls are learning sewing on their Mom's machine so I'll go as an advisor.
Do you wait to be invited or just go visit your kids when you want? I figured if I always wait until she asks for I'll not see them anymore than if they were back in Atlanta. We invite all of them here.
We've always tried to not crowd but be available however, that seems to put us at the end of the line sometimes with all our children. Trying not to be sensitive. 🙁

We generally see two of our kids and their families every week. They're both about a 20 minute drive away. The third and his wife are 30-40 minutes away with longer work commutes, crazier schedules and no children. We generally see them every six weeks or so, but text in between.

Saw the ophthalmologist this morning,, all is good with my eyes,, come back in Sept.

Overcast rainy day send us back home to goof off.
Even the big greenhouse that I like to stop at,, didn't appeal to us.

We watched a live car chase of some body in CAL.

I guess cops have different. laws out there?
Maybe they need to herd cattle or some thing before they learn how to drive? 🙃

Today I managed to get to the Nail salon at last. I really needed to get there before the schools break up, and did..just.. but I was totally taken aback that the salon was empty. Not one customer. This is the busiest ( not the best) salon in that town.. never ever have I seen it empty. The whole time I was there I was the only customer, and one nail technician sat on the pedicure chair and went to sleep.!:D

Dropped off half of the donation I have for the charity, simply because one part of it is full of new or nearly new items and I want that to go to one particular charity...which is in a town the opposite direction to where I went today.. so I just took the clothing and Books which are in great condition but have been used for a couple of years..to a smaller one in the town I was in today..

Got groceries from 2 supermarkets..people must be keeping their money for going away next week for Easter, because the 2 supermarkets I went to were all but empty..

Just got home in time as the rain started...

Got 2 reminding texts from the hospital to tell me I have appointments on Thursday... so I'll take the other donation out with me then...

Busy day prepping dinner for DSS & his wife. I made their favourite meal. They’re here for 3 nights. Ran around doing laundry and getting packed for my trip on Thursday to see my DDs and their families. I travel with carryon only. This time I’m take a checked suitcase to give them some of things that they want. It’s getting really heavy.
Excited for you @Jules!

Thanks Silverfox. There is enough going on in my body that it is difficult to know exactly what to blame for what. Mostly pain and shortness of breath. I see cardiologist on Wednesday.
Alizerine, I missed why you are on antibiotics and are you having chest pain? I wonder if you got that RSV shot. My Dr. said it's very good. I hope you'll give an update. 🌹

After getting the laundry done, I slept on and off for most of the day. I purposely took a nap early because I was supposed to go to our annual stockholders' (unit owners') meeting tonight. I woke up at 6 and the meeting started at 6:30. I had to feed Deja, eat dinner and change clothes. That wasn't happening in a half an hour. Plus, I still felt tired. I don't think they had an election and even if they did, the incumbents, two of whom I wouldn't have voted back in, were the only ones on the ballot. The meetings can sometimes get contentious and be so counterproductive that I just didn't feel like being bothered. I will get an update from my neighbor and/or request a copy of the minutes.

I understand how you feel HL. It seems that as they get older, we get put on the back burner because they (children and grands) get so busy with their own lives. And as we get older, it's been my experience that we do get more sensitive about these things. Even though all of my grandsons still live here in town, I don't see them often enough and only 2 of the 4 keep in decent touch. My granddaughter is in Atlantic City in college, just saw her because she's up here for a week. But even when I go down to AC, we can't always get together because she's got classes and work, both full time.

Power was off from 9 am till 4 pm yesterday so by the time it came back on, it was getting a bit late to start anything much.
Shopping went reasonably OK. I bought some 'jeans' in ASDA - cheap, but they fit well and are fine for work wear. All the half price lamb joints had been sold out in Tesco, so it's just as well that I had bought them when I first saw them.
The bill for our new lounge suite has arrived. I suppose I'll have to pay that. Furniture, like everything else is disgustingly expensive, but at least I don't have to buy it very often.

Wet and miserable today, so getting depressed at not getting outside work done. At least the forecast is reasonable for the weekend.
