What a cool song!
What a cool song!
I like Elvis's gospel, Christmas, and early rock and roll. I never cared for his music he did later on in his young life.I think I like his Christian songs better than the rock and roll.
That's a beautiful song. I'd never heard it before.
When I first stumbled across Contemporary Christian music and liked it. I felt guilty in a way. I had a discussion with my Bishop on it.I like the old-time hymns. I guess I'm showing my age. I'm not crazy about the Praise songs young people listen to nowadays, but as long as they enjoy it and get something out of it that's all that matters.
Thanks! I love that song as I do many of the other old hymns. I guess I'm just set in my ways, but I try to be open minded.
That's the beauty of it, many of those newer bands do also make hymn albums too, not all but some. So they try to appeal to each taste of worship songs. I like a hymn when I am really needing guidance and wanting to feel my gratitude. It's just beautiful feelings that comes from it.Thanks! I love that song as I do many of the other old hymns. My cousin and her boyfriend play in a band at their church. I went one time, and it was okay. I guess you have to get used to it.
The Gaither's hometown is 9 miles from my hometown. When they were the Gaither Trio, they used to make the church circuit and and sang at my home church several times. Shortly after, they hit it big by writing songs and forming the Gaither Vocal Band. I like their earlier music, but I never did get into their more contemporary music. I guess the newer music doesn't touch me like the older music but to each his own.
I prefer hymns too, but I listen to other kinds of Christian music. Some I like, some I do not. And some of those ramble repetitively with no familiar melody I can become accustomed to. My church has a congregation of around 200, of all ages. They use predominately newer music, but usually include at least 1 hymn in every service. I'm thankful for that, but not so much when I feel that it's an obligatory token intended to please the over 50 group.I like the old-time hymns. I guess I'm showing my age. Beautiful song! Kind of a tearjerker if you've lost your mom though. That's a beautiful song. I'd never heard it before.
Is this the one you are looking for?Although I prefer old hymns, there are exceptions. One of my exceptions is "Believe" done by Jelly Roll and Ronnie Dunn on You Tube. It's very powerful if you have any faith at all. I still haven't figured out how to transfer music videos from You Tube onto this site. I guess I'll have to You Tube how. It's my DIY site.
Yes. Thanks. After I posted that, I see someone else had posted it. That's probably where I heard it from. lol!!! My memories not always the bestIs this the one you are looking for?
This is a nice song. I like Dolly PartonZach Williams, Dolly Parton - There Was Jesus
I have to look at it this way, when in church you are in Father's House, honor and revere Him, When there are events, dances, picnic's etc, whereI prefer hymns too, but I listen to other kinds of Christian music. I like that. Jimmie Johnson does another one that's good called "Lead Me Home".
I love that song and I love the Presleys show. The Whites do a good version of that song also.
I am going to a city
Where the streets with gold are laid
Where the tree of life is blooming
And the roses never fade
chorus:
Here they bloom but for a season
Soon their beauty is decayedI
am going to a city
Where the roses never fade
In this world we have our troubles
Satan snares we must evade
We’ll be free from all temptations
Where the roses never fade
Loved ones gone to be with Jesus
In their robes of white arrayed
They are waiting for my coming
Where the roses never fade
Here they bloom but for a season
Soon their beauty is decayed
I am going to a city
Where the roses never fade
I love that song. It always brings back memories of my childhood when My mom would play it on the piano and we would sing it together.
I loved Joeys angelic voice. Did you ever read the story behind this song and what inspired Horatio Spafford to write it? It's sad but touching. My daughter added this song to my playlist. She returned home to hurricane ridden Asheville NC because she was told the water is safe now but when she got there she was alerted that it wasn't. She sent me this song of faith and peace in adversity...so beautiful, so touching
Our (new) song leader slowed down "Leaning on the Everlasting Arms" to the tempo of a funeral dirge. I play piano by ear and I read music, so I know how it goes. I have no music at home for new "choruses" (or whatever they should be called) so I can't remember how they go to play them, except for a very few. [At one time I played piano for my church - not the church I now attend.]I have to look at it this way, when in church you are in Father's House, honor and revere Him, When there are events, dances, picnic's etc, where
happy upbeat music lifts spirts then the other should be more appropriate. A calmer current one is very likely appropriate in Church, others do have the message but it's just a different form of honoring. Hope I made myself understandable.
Oh wow, you've taken the time to reply individually to several members about songs they've posted from sometime back. That was very thoughtful. Sometime I need to go back into songs in this thread myself. As with most threads, I have a habit of only looking at the latest posts.I love that song.
