Christian Music for those who enjoy it.

Oh wow, you've taken the time to reply individually to several members about songs they've posted from sometime back. That was very thoughtful. Sometime I need to go back into songs in this thread myself. As with most threads, I have a habit of only looking at the latest posts.
I'm relatively new on this forum site so I don't navigate too well. I don't always look at the date, but I need to start doing that.

Our (new) song leader slowed down "Leaning on the Everlasting Arms" to the tempo of a funeral dirge. I play piano by ear and I read music, so I know how it goes. I have no music at home for new "choruses" (or whatever they should be called) so I can't remember how they go to play them, except for a very few. [At one time I played piano for my church - not the church I now attend.]

"New" music that started replacing hymns around 40 years ago is now "old" - like one I actually liked, called "This is the Day That the Lord Hath Made." Do you know, they still do that song in church, but some writer decided it was out of date and created a new version, which is awful. Maybe it will be old someday, but I'll be "off the planet" before then.

As you pointed out, we are in the Father's house to honor and revere Him, so our focus really should be on God and worship; not on the latest trends in music. This is why I continue to go to church. I have trouble being the person I should be and need all the encouragement I can get, regardless of the music.
I took piano lessons and can barely play a lick. My mom played by ear. She would only have to hear a tune once and she could pretty much play it. Playing by ear is a talent.

Listen while you read!
Lord, prepare me to be a sanctuary
Pure and holy, tried and true
With thanksgiving, I'll be a living
Sanctuary for You

It is you, Lord
Who came to save
The heart and soul
Of every man
It is you Lord
who knows my weakness
Who gives me strength,
With thine own hand.

Lord prepare me to be a sanctuary
Pure and Holy, tried and true
With thanksgiving I'll be a living
Sanctuary for you

Lead Me on Lord
From temptation
Purify me
From within
Fill my heart with
You holy spirit
Take away all my sin

Lord prepare me to be sanctuary
Pure and holy, tried and true
With thanksgiving, I'll be a living
Sanctuary for You

Another favorite song of mine is "Where No One Stands Alone". There's a version where Lisa Marie is dubbed in singing with her Dad. I'm not sure if it's on You Tube or not, but I think it is.

Where No One Stands Alone

Song by

Merle Haggard
Once I stood in the night with my head bowed low
In darkness as black as the sea
In my heart felt alone and I cried oh Lord
Don't hide your face from me.
Hold my hand all the way every hour every day
From here to the great unknown
Take my hand let me stand
Where no one stands alone.
--- Instrumental ---
Like a king I may live in a palace so fine
With great riches to call my own
But I don't know a thing in this whole wide world
That's worse than being alone.
Hold my hand all the way every hour every day
From here to the great unknown
Take my hand let me stand
Where no one stands alone...
