The new members want to share their personality...music is almost always involved. One can predict on this music thread beyond this first page, that numbers of members will just start posting more YouTube music video links with little to none associated text, page after page, that no to few others will write follow-up posts about. The board already has several active music threads and that is about all one ever sees because OP are so broadly posed. So a more interesting question is,
"Why do so many SF members feel compelled to post all these tersely described music links on any music thread as though they are promoting exposure of their favorite bands?" I'd love to read a post of at least a paragraph to page length on why they like or don't like whatever. I could easily write a lot about specific albums or songs if tasked. I'm sure some members do actually view such posted music links, but I'd bet most rarely do. So a second question is, "How often do you view music links posted by others?"
Maybe the music says it all. "Sunday Morning Coming Down" express more when I'm in sorrowful mood than my own words can. "Like a Bridge Over Troubled Water" describes how we all need each other, while "Help Me Through the Night" express the pain of needing a shoulder to rest on. I used to listen to 59th St. Bridge Street song on my way to work but was criticized for being too happy at the start of a new day. When I have the time now I like to view the links but my life doesn't revolve around my computer. One can predict on this music thread beyond this first page, that numbers of members will just start posting more YouTube music video links with little to none associated text, page after page, that no to few others will write follow-up posts about. Quite often. I never know what might just grab my attentionI'm sure some members do actually view such posted music links, but I'd bet most rarely do. So a second question is, "How often do you view music links posted by others?"
I really like much of the new stuff. This kind of started when I was starting over in the 90’s. I found that listening to the lyrics made me happy and sometimes laugh. Now I listen to a Spanish station occasionally…love the beat and try to understand the lyrics. About the worst music for me is jazz or heavy metal.
