For The Love of Dogs

I was only using these because it helps them keep their teeth clean. Guess I'll have to figure out how to make my own (natural) crunchy biscuts for them.

Hey folks... beware of milk bone biscuts these days. Apparently, they've changed something in the make up and my dogs were wretching up yellow crap after eating a couple. (this is new).
Then I noticed the red ones are now dull pinkish and they've added some yellow ones to the mix.

Thanks for the heads up👍👍. I buy the Milk Bone “Maro Snacks”. So far they seem ok, but whose to say🫣

Don‘t buy the vet recommended “Greenies”. Both my dogs had terrible gas on those dental chews.

The five star dental chews for my dogs were “Blue Buffalo All Life Stages Dental Chews”.

They are REALLY expensive. When husband could no longer work, I stopped buying them, but they are the best.

I guess this means putting my research hat back on to see what else is out there in terms of dental chews. I do a lot of shopping at tractor supply and they have a good arsenal of dog treats. The one they don’t have is blue buffalo; I have asked a time and time again if they would get that in, but to no avail.

When you see the daily recalls on food products for humans, it makes you wonder what they'd do to animal food. (profit over health is what drive's them).
There's no way anymore to trust what poop heads are putting in dog's food or treats. From now on, I will make my own with known... (to me) ingredients.

Try monitoring this with horse feed🤯🤯.

While moldy horse feed can sometimes be found during the warm months, killer horse feed is not common these days. But it has happened and horses have died horrible deaths.

Monensin is an ionophore antibiotic, commonly found in livestock and poultry feed, that poses a severe and often fatal threat to horses”.

The horse owner doesn’t know it’s in the feed until the horse(s) eats it, and it’s too late.

It has been fatally proven that washing out a vat used for ruminant feeds is not safe to make horse feed. Thankfully there have been enough big money people who lost high dollar horses, and had enough influence to step in and make the changes for the rest of us.

In the last ten or so years, feed manufactures have built their ruminant feed facilities and horse feed facilities either on separate land or at opposite ends of a piece of land.

didn’t mean to get off on a tangent, but this sort of thing happens with all of our animals, and we all have to be diligent and pay attention, just as you have😇😇

I took my dog to the park again today and let him run through the fields and along the trails off the leash. He did great! Then I took him to the dog park area where you're allowed to let your dog off the leash. He did great until a dog started running and he tried to herd it. He nipped at the other dog and it got spooked and nipped back. Nobody got hurt, but that's antisocial behavior on the part of my dog. He can't be nipping if he wants to go to the dog park. He was doing so good up until that point, too! Oh, well. We'll just need to work on that somehow.

When I've been getting ready to take him to a park, I've been singing "to the park, to the park, to the park, park, park" to the tune of the William Tell Overture. This morning, I was telling my wife about our latest excursions and I sang my little "to the park" song to her. My dog was laying nearby, and when he heard the song and he jumped up and came over to me with a big grin on his face. 🤣

My pack ten years ago, and my pack last year. Left: Heidi 1 and Roxy on the left lived to 14 and 15 years; Ross next to them
had to be euthanized at 9, while Maxi died at age 7. Right: Now I have only Rex far left and Heidi 2 second from the right side.

Left: My15 month old Rex and my 6 year old grandson. I adopted Rex 3 months ago at 60 pounds, and he has gained
14 pounds in the meantime. Being 90 y/o, Rex will be the last puppy in my lifetime. I hope he will join me in celebrating
my 100th B-Day. Right: Rex left and Heidi 2 right are now my smaller pack. At my age, I can't handle 4 dogs anymore.

The pet cemetery in our yard. I could tell stories about each and every pup we have had. I wish dogs had a longer lifespan.

@packleader you are indeed a special and blessed caregiver of animals.

Thank you for seeing your best friends to their end times and laying them to rest with respect

To date, I have laid seven horses to rest, countless dogs, and cats.

Many of the dogs and cats were not mine. Some I found injured on the road and took them to the vet. Some did not survive, but I brought them home anyway and gave them a respectful burial. I have three dogs, in my Pet Sematary, that belong to two neighbors who moved away and couldn’t take the dogs with them. I took them in because they viewed this as part of their territory and when their times came, they were peacefully laid to rest here.

My hope is you are able to see the last of your dogs to its end time, before it is your time.

My last horse is around 30 years old, his papers did not travel with him when he was gifted to me, so I’m not quite sure of his age. I will be 79 this year and my hope is that I have enough health to see this horse and my last two dogs to their end times.

bless you Packleader😇💐😇💐
