1.5°C warming in next 10-20 years, world fails to meet key climate goal: IPCC

This is sort of the ultimate in "going green" -- let's get rid of all the people so the other life forms can flourish.

All I can say is, you first!
Typical specious argument: Rephrase someone's words then attack them for the ones you put in their mouths. Random feelings are NOT belief systems set in stone they are that--feelings.

I did not say we should 'get rid' of anyone i simply acknowledge that humanity is on self destructive path and that maybe in the grand scheme of things the end of our species might have its upside.

Now i need to go watch a bunch of YouTube about decent human beings to help balance how much you've contributed to my negative opinion of humanity. I know good folks exist, THAT is why I'm so d*mn concerned.

As much as I like Beethoven, I'd trade his music in a red-hot minute to save life, any life, even if it wasn't "important" human life (gasp). I can hum Beethoven's 5th just fine; but once the polar bears are gone, I'm gonna be even more pissed off than I am now. And Wagner?! That anti-semite?! Don't get me started...

You don't seem to understand what I posted. Let's leave it at that.

The "upside" to the end of humanity is a bit hard for me to grasp. Let's agree to ignore each other and go on our merry ways.

I'm a nihilist, yet I want to protect the environment. I don't like breathing all this smoke from forest fires caused in part by global warming. And I enjoy a nice walk in the woods and other outdoor activities.

While I don't believe there's any meaning to life other than trying to make the most of it while we're here, I'm also a pragmatist. We're better off protecting the environment rather than just raping it of all its resources leaving a sh*thole for those who come after us. Why do I care about those who come after us? I don't know. It just seems like the right thing to do. It has nothing to do with any religion of concern with what happens to me after I die. I've always been kind of an environmentalist, even when I was a little kid. My parents weren't environmentalists, nor were any of my friends. Who knows?
Maybe you're just rational thinking enough to realize that tsking caring of one's environment is logical and contributes to our existial well being in the moment? Or put another way have common sense?

Back in the 1960's and 1970's, TV viewers were regularly terrorized about "the coming Ice Age", not to mention by the public schools and the US government as well, among others. This minute and a half clip from the TV show, "In Search Of" might help to refresh the memories of those who have forgotten about those times:
