2025 - How's the Weather Where You Are?

Clear blue skies, birdie water hasn't frozen in about four nights, low 60s and high 50s in daytime.
Our three day cold front last week, the only cold front for the AZ winter is gone.

I can put away my winter clothes now. I lived here as a child and never owned a coat until I left home, moved to Colorado.

A snow flurry at dawn, but it soon stopped. However, we are under the gun with a winter storm advisory. Snow expected to start this afternoon and continue into early tomorrow. Good thing Monday it's a holiday for most Americans. After that, temps plunge into the middle of the week.

Extreme Cold Warning in effect for:
  • City of Winnipeg
A multi-day episode of very cold wind chills is expected.Wind chills in the range of minus 40 to minus 45 are expected in parts of southern Manitoba this weekend. The cold snap should ease somewhat next week.

For our good neighbours to the south, I translate: - 45 C = - 49 F

Now, if that don't feeze your underwear, then nothing will!

A few weeks ago, I was on the island of Aruba in the Caribbean. It was 29 C and everyone was wearing shorts. Not even the short wearing macho men around here dare to go out in this weather.

One of the chilliest gloomiest days this winter here in the SF Bay Area due to a low marine cloud deck with high foggy dew point humidity without any usual wind to push it away. Temperature has only reached 50F after down to 42F at sunrise.

By tomorrow a breeze will return pushing away the fog with a forecast high 62F under sunny skies. I was hoping to drive up to Tahoe for a couple more days skiing but have pulled the plug on that notion because the sinus head cold that began January 8, or 11 days ago is still bothering me more than I'd hoped with drainage that the wiser patient choice given my 76 year age is to allow my damaged sinuses to heal more. A lot of we old folk immune systems don't work as well as when young with some catching various respiratory virus then developing pneumonia leading to death.

Sunny but cold. 11F but the wind make it feel like 2F. The big snow predicted for last night didn't drop as much as predicted. I shoveled a little this morning. Looked like around 2 inches of light, fluffy snow. Going to get down around 0F tomorrow morning.

25 degrees this morning with a wind chill of 17. And we are expecting 1-3 inches of snow tomorrow. Very unusual for here. This will be my 11th winter in Mobile and so far it has only snowed once and that was at most a half an inch. People here are freaking out. The grocery stores and gas stations have been mobbed with people stocking up for the possiblity of being snowed in. Lol! They are acting just like they do when there is a hurricane on the way. Lol!

We're "housebound" for the next couple of days. We had a big buildup of freezing rain, followed by 4 inches of snow a few days ago. I was able to blade the snow off, enough to get up the driveway with my 4WD truck. But then, we got some milder weather late last week, and it melted the ice into a smooth "glass" surface, I got the tractor out this morning, and tried to break up the ice, but it so slick that the tractor just slid around. So, today/tomorrow will remain bitterly cold, and it will be Wednesday before we get out of this Artic blast....so until it warms up a bit, we'll just stay put.
