Am surprised anyone can drive in Atlanta. I lived in Birmingham for 7 years, when it froze it was a mess; slick/frozen and southern warm weather drivers are scary. Same way in southern Texas....slick roads there: no one knows how to avoid each other. Lived in Colorado for 9 years and even I stay the hell home.It hasn't been above 32 for two days. It rained in other areas of Atlanta yesterday but the snow remained here. I couldn't find my old boots and it is slick out there so I have someone scraping off my car for me. I hope I can get out tomorrow but I'm not going to push it. They don't treat the roads and there are hills and valleys.
Hey, I am in Arizona. When they talk about global "warming"? I think: "Bring it ON!"33 no snow
Thank God for Global Warming
I lived in Homewood for a year during my college days, so I know what you mean. In 1980 my rent for a one bedroom apartment was $350. In the winter Alabama Power gouged me for heat, then in summer it was air conditioning. I moved to Eureka, California and got a bigger one bedroom apartment for $175 and never needed heat or air conditioning.I lived in Birmingham for 7 years, when it froze it was a mess...
People don't realize how HILLY the suburbs and Birmingham ARE until the mist freezes on the roads! Yikes!I lived in Homewood for a year during my college days, so I know what you mean. The place I lived in was on Beacon Crest Lane and the college I went to at the time was on Beacon Parkway West and I had to walk down this steep hill, cross Valley Avenue then up another hill just as steep to get there. That winter I about killed myself on those hills many times when they were iced over.People don't realize how HILLY the suburbs and Birmingham ARE until the mist freezes on the roads! Yikes!
Daughter went to Samford University; I got a nursing degree from Samford, too; was also in PhD program in public health/epidemiology at University of Alabama there in Birmingham. Never finished the PhD, baby #4 showed up unexpected!!The place I lived in was on Beacon Parkway West and I had to walk down this steep hill, cross Valley Avenue then up another hill just as steep to get to the college I was going to at the time. But the view from my living room window was amazing. (If you like city lights, anyway.)
