It just started here (3:15 pm). If was to be all snow, it would actually be better. The sleet and freezing rain make driving and shoveling difficult not to mention possible power outages as icing and high winds bring down utility wires. If I'm not here tomorrow, you'll know why.
Today is -12 with 60 kilometre winds with wind gusts up to 80 kilometres an hour making it feel like -24. Today I didn’t go for a walk. Everything was iced over including our backyard paths. The noise from the wind blowing on our house sounds scary.
Rain, rain, you don't have to go away, I am home with no place to go but the laundry room, and I doubt that I'll get there. The Garbage Room on my floor will see me, and any lucky neighbors that might be in the hallway for a quick gossip.
Otherwise, let it rain.
We didn't get as much snow as was predicted. Only about 2 inches, but it had a nice crusty layer of ice on top. It took me nearly an hour to chop through and shovel the driveway. Rain still on tap for this afternoon, but then turning much colder for most of the week. That's why it was important to get it done or it would freeze into a solid mass even Wonder Woman couldn't chop up. High wind warning on top of everything else.
The town where I live looks like a "Winter Wonderland"!!! We have a lot of old spruce trees all covered with a lot of snow, our streets completely covered and big piles of snow on the edges and in our yards. Deer walking by my house twice a day and sometime some moose too.
With our temperatures it feels like the North Pole. Yesterday our high was -26C and the low -30C. Today it was -34C this morning, now at 1:30 its -28 C and tonight it's going down to -39C. Tomorrow the high again -28C and for the night -38C. Tuesday -35C and high -27C.
Then on Wednesday it gets a tiny bit better -23 and -26C. Then it gets warmer, for Saturday it's going to be -2 and -6C, and 0C and -2C for Sunday and Monday. And very mild for the rest of that week.
I want to add that right now our Windchills are between -40C and -50C!!!! We have to bundle up very good if we have to go outside.
The weather is crazy
A mixed variety today. Woke up to the power out from the ice storm overnight. Was out for 7 hours. Temperature in the house only dropped to 58ºF.
It warmed up some later in the morning, then the rain started. An hour ago, rain shut off, temps dropped and it looks like a bizard out there. Can't wait for nicer weather to arrive!
It looks like this coming week may be the coldest of the year, around here. The forecasts are all calling for snow Monday evening through Wednesday morning, with daytime highs in the 20's, and morning lows at, or below 0. It looks like at least a week before temperatures go above freezing....another "stay at home" week.
