Got about an inch of slushy snow/ice mix overnight. Snowing lightly at the moment with temp hovering right around freezing.

On Tuesday, our daughters finally managed to get a flight back home and on Wednesday, things were looking better as the local roads had been cleared of snow. Our neighbour helped to clear the snow from round our drive and we managed to get the car out. Although the main roads are clear, small villages like this one tend to be ignored.
We managed to get to the nearest town, and got enough groceries to keep us going, although the supermarket shelves were pretty bare.
We hoped that the worst of the snow was past, but this morning it's worse than ever with snow half way up our front door.
Just as well we got to the shops yesterday, because we're going nowhere today!

Looks like we are having a "January Thaw". A balmy 46F at the moment - quite mild for so early on a mid-winter day in upstate NY. Sunny, too, which helps, but a gusty wind prevails.

Low at sunrise this morning, here in Santa Clara County was 39F with a forecast high of 58F, under mostly sunny skies at low breezes. Inside my 2 story 4-plex residence, it was 58F this morning. As I turned off my gas heating decades ago, have been intermittently running a Conair 1865 hair blow drier downstairs that has raised the temperature to 62F. Wearing warm goose down upper and lowers plus balaclava, but hands a bit chilly.

Don't have any plans today to go outdoors. A couple NFL playoff games this afternoon have a low interest with. Otherwise, likewise mostly today typing away or watching web pages on my HP Omen 35L desktop.

We had a couple of glorious days; Thursday when temps went to +8C and complete sunshine with no wind. Felt like spring Friday was warmer still at around +13C, almost unheard of for January. It was horribly windy though with gusts to 100 km/h so that kind of ruined things. Now, back to +3C & cloudy Sat. Still pretty mild for us in Jan. so I'll take it!
