I read up on him. He spent almost 2 years preparing for that jump.That is astounding and nutty, how did he do it without practice jumps?

I'm an oddity, in that I'm scared of heights, yet I have always had a yearning to jump from a plane, just like that....

Not for the faint hearted.
It's a little amusing - some people who reach 80 or 90 years old decide to parachute for the first time in their lives.
I think they figure they don't have much to lose if something goes wrong.

First, they would have to pry my hands off the planes doorway, because there's no way in hell that I'd willingly jump out of a flying plane.

I'm scared of heights too and did jump out of a plane. Also strangely enough I'd rather be on a rope climbing up a cliff than standing at the top behind a railing looking down.

yes absolutely me too, I understand that completely... a;lso for some very odd reason if I'm on the top of a height (for example a monument) .I very often find it far more terrifying to look UP, than to look down (albeit that the latter is also frightening)
