6 letter word challenge

OK, what does the word mean? What dictionary What part of speech is it? Can you google it as a word (not a product name)?

We might as well say Ikea, Reebok, or Cheetos are words, because you can buy them. Or any first or last name that a person has. Yes, they are "words," but they are proper nouns, and I've always believed that proper nouns are off limits in this game. Otherwise, you can put together any ridiculous combination of letters and say that is somebody's name, therefore it's a word.

However, it does get tricky. Some proper nouns are used so much in common speech that they become regular words. Google is one example.
The word googol in mathematics means a very large number, I don't remember how many gazillions, but it's a lot. It's also a word. When the computer folks wanted a good word for their new search engine, they thought googol sounded cute, so they slightly changed the spelling to google, and for a while it was a proper noun, but eventually became a verb and a regular, commonly used word.

But Gridle? What on earth does it mean, besides apparently being the name of a product?
