We already have legal marijuana for medical purposes and with me not being a user it doesn't affect me one way or the other but Oklahoma voted on legalizing marijuana for recreational use yesterday and 61% voted no......probably only a matter of time but I believe I saw that 12 states do now have legalized recreational use MJ.

I am not going to say no, there are many that have chronic pain that this has helped. I have often wondered if it would help me. I would not smoke it as I have quit smoking but if available in a pill of some sort I would try it. To be truthful, I am not aware of the laws in my state. I do not know if medical marijuana is available with a prescription or not. My doctor has not told me or prescribed anything of the sort,

If you’re old where you don’t drive or leave your home, I could care less if you smoke it, eat it as gummies or brownies or use it as a prophylactic. Just don’t drive, go out in public, or believe you are more intelligent for using it recreationally. If by chance you are young don’t use it at all.
Have LOTS of difficulty buying into the “oh it’s for pain” scenario but if…use my “old” advice stated in my beginning note.
Oh, and NO I don’t want the government, my insurance company, and since I am old my SS to cover it. That will bring in more drug cartels and I think we have enough faux legitimate and underground drug profiteers.

Medicinal marijuana is fine, and legal in my state, but I worry about recreational marijuana use being legalized. I’ve seen plenty of stone sober motorists drive recklessly or badly. When they drink and drive, a layer of risk is added. Soon I may have to worry if whether the speeding motorist coming up behind me is drunk or high…

I have never used marijuana for anything, either medicinal or recreational, so I have no fish to fry in this matter. But I have to answer Wontactmyage.

It seems to me that making a product legal would put an end to the cartels, or at least cut down on them. Why would we need marijuana illegally smuggled into the country if we could just buy it, like alcohol or any other legal drug?

Of course, there would be "profiteering," but isn't that the aim of all business enterprise? Who is profiting from the grossly inflated prices of ordinary food? What about restaurant meals, theatre tickets, the cost of airline travel, etc.? Profiteering is all around us.

About increasng driving hazards, I have no idea if marijuana plays any part in that. But we do know about alcohol. So, should that be illegal? It was tried once, and we all know how well that worked out. Although maybe people driving recklessly or causing accidents could be tested for marijuana use, the same as they are for alcohol.

It's legal in my state but so expensive. I've had some given to me by a friend over a month ago but haven't smoked it yet. It's not 1973 anymore mores the pity and I'm waiting for a special occasion. I remember when every danged day was a special occasion.;) I need a stoned emoji. :ROFLMAO:
