A block option is much needed!

I knew that eventually, your jealousy, resentment and well, your envy of me, would manifest. Never write a letter, or a post, in anger Holly! Once the words come flying out, they cannot be taken back. I showed sympathy for your situation that you described, so you have a short memory. Forums are not rocket science, but maybe they are to you. I told you I have been online since 1988, and I doubt you were then. I posted my suggestion in the suggestion box, which was what it was designed for. I did not ask for your penny opinion on it, or your view of it. I am seeking to change this site for the better, regardless of what you think. I hope someone addresses that issue, it will be for the better.

An example of the type of posts Rin would like to be able to block.

Because of the number of silly, insulting and ridiculous posts I have seen on a few of my threads, I suggest we have the added option to block people, not just ignore them, when they engage in this kind of behavior! Ignore is a good option, but better would be the option to block them, and delete their post if it is insulting, this would prevent them from doing the same thing over and over, and they would not be able to post on a thread of a member who has them blocked. Note: this option should be available only to the person who creates the thread, not just anyone.
Now why would you want to block people for behavior you don't agree with? I think its much better to ignore them. I don't have the right to block anyone I don't find appropriate because others might find them interesting.
The world is full of silly ridiculousness and people who engage in behavior that others don't agree with. They have a right to exist and I have a right to ignore them. I guess if I could block them from myself I might, but I don't have the right to shield others unless they are a child or mentally unable to protect themself.

Another person who does not comprehend my meaning...next!
I understand your meaning. You posted you think it would be worthwhile for a means to block a poster that you think has offended you. IMO nothing wrong with offering an opinion on what you think would improve a site that has been working for others without that feature..

But since this site has been operating successfully for so long without that feature I think the saying of if " it ain't broke don't fix it " applies.

For me when someone posted an what I thought was an offensive opinion. I thought about the why of their opinion. So I take what I read as learning lesson.

I’ll have to look for your other threads for entertainment purposes. I have never been on a forum that works how you think it should be 🙄.

I am seeking to improve this site, and I hope someone considers it. I want more control over my forum threads, to block people I deem offensive, or, if I just don't like them, I should have that option to keep them from posting on it. And the term is "If it works, don't fix it." An old Irish proverb.

Here's the thing - you don't have any forum threads to control. The OP has no more extra editorial rights than any other poster. I'm on multiple sites and that is the understanding on all of them.

Oh get over yourself and why in the world would Hollydolly be jealous of you?:ROFLMAO:

An OP shouldn't have the ability to delete replies at will, as it would discourage other members from participating in discussions. If your posts could be deleted by just about anyone, why would you bother taking the time to reply? As the sole admin, I’m already often criticized for censorship—imagine if everyone had the power to delete posts...

Thank you Matrix.

As on all forums I know of, OP does not own or control a thread they start.

Put anyone on Ignore if you want to.

Report any posts that break the rules about personal attacks etc - of course making sure your own do not do so before worrying about reporting others.

I usually un-watch most everything. Someone usually post something new to unwatch next too.
------------
We were talking about out pets today. They want us to stay at our lake home and hide when we are packing to come back to the other.
-------------
Why would I want to watch them characters ?

However, a post that one member finds insulting another might not, so no one member can have the ablity to delete someone else's post...no mattter how insutling. if you feel it's agains the rules.. use the report button and admin @Matrix will remove it..otherwsie the ingore buton is a magic tool..believe me I have serveral obnoxious people on ignore...
Well said.

Were we not discussing what posts might be 'block-worthy'? I think I've just seen a good example of one.
