A Bug in the Plant

We had a long game of hide-and-seek today. It moved off the Schefflera where it had been since I discovered it. Now it's on a Callisia.
Thought for a minute yesterday that Stinky escaped and came to visit me. There was one on my lace panel curtain on the window behind the sofa. I have to confess I wasn't as nice as you, Deb... put it outside and it ran for a crack in the sidewalk, so hopefully survived the cold where it would have been anyhow before sneaking inside. 🤷‍♀️

When we first moved into our house, it had many stink bugs. Like others have said, it does smell. I have learned to get rid of them by placing a piece of cellophane tape (the large kind used for packaging) with my thumb pressing on the back of the bug. Then I fold the tape around it and dispose. I have not seen any in my house for many years.

The word is out.

I was looking at my plants today and saw a stinkbug on one. Now I don't know if the dead one I found was the original or the still live one is. I though the one I found was too dried out to have been dead for just a few days.

Well he sure looks like Hal.

Um...do female Halyomorpha halys suck out their "husbands" innards after mating? Maybe its name should be Hailey.

I guess we'll know soon enough.

I leave house spiders be, I'll relocate them if they are in the way. All the bugs-beetles-lizards-snakes that mistakenly enter the house get escorted back out.
Same here with the exception of mosquitoes, the rare black widow that shows up, and gasp! cockroaches. Haven't had any roaches show their ugly faces in my garage or home in many years. God bless borax for that.

I quite like crickets and carefully carry them to friendlier environs (the yard), being sure to not injure their fragile legs. I try to shoo flying bugs out a door.

Update - Gub is dead. I found its body under the plant this morning. I haven't seen Hal in weeks.
They don't live very long. In the adult stage they only live for a couple of months, give or take. Long enough to procreate.

Gub and Hal were adults. RIP little fellas. (you can assume Hal has met the big bug-reaper in the sky)
