A flower a day ...

One of the cutest wildflowers in Missouri, "Dutchman's Breeches"

Tomorrow is likely to be busy for me so I'm posting my flower for tomorrow today, Mexican Tree Daisy. These are cloud forest daisies which grow much larger than there normal relatives. These will grow to 3-4 meters some places but in coastal California they will get up to 25-30 feet with 'trunks' as much as 8 inches in diameter. This was mine taken in 2007, very happy because it got lots of sun and was growing just up from our creek where it wasn't dependent on me for watering.

Here it is growing behind the corner deck and down the slope above the creek before I planted the redwood tree.

And here it is today crowding up as close to the deck as it can get to escape the shade of that redwood tree now.

A lot less impressive now but not bad for a soft wooded 'tree' that is just an overgrown daisy.

I once grew this in my garden. One of the things I like best about flowers is how sculptural they can be and this one surely is that. It didn't last long for me probably because I am so miserly with irrigation. But I did come across a vine with similar flowers. Your photo is of a Dicentra while mine isn't labeled that way, since it grows as a vine and has been renamed as Dactylicapnos scandans instead of Dicentra scandals. Here is someone else's superior closeup.

Well heck, I can't find any of my own photos so I'll just share another from the net that shows it to be a vine. That is hard to do as the flowers are similar inside to the one you showed but the vine easily climbs several feet and spreads out as this one shows.

@MarkD ">>>Please post one flower picture each day you are inspired to do so..."

Noticed the OP abandoned his one image per day direction on page two haha. Have not posted on this thread yet although work lots of flower images each year. These two are from a municipal rose garden. Crops from larger focus bracket blended shots using my tripod mounted Sony a6700 with Sigma 56mm prime at F5.0 ISO 100.

From my last of 4 backpacks last summer, downsized for web focus stack blended alpine gentian, gentiana newberryi , closeup.

I like that a lot. Don’t suppose that might be the same as the Fire-wheel tree like the one I keep hoping to find room for but also season cast anymore shade in the garden.

No, I found some images online of what my tree's flowers will look like if I ever give it some ground:
