A Good Dishwasher to Buy New?

Our old dishwasher is going berserk and needs to be replaced. Have any of you purchased a dishwasher in the last year that has worked well for you?

This is a frustrating search since when I read reviews of many new dishwashers that cost a fair amount of money, I see lots of bad experiences.

Thanks for your input!

It's been a few years since I had to buy one when the last one died without warning. We went to Lowes & bought one that was on sale. It was nothing fancy, but just basic functions & so far it's done a good job. I don't like to put a lot of money in smaller appliances, since they are basically disposable. If an appliance has a lot of electronics, I shy away from it because those don't seem to last long for me.

6 weeks ago--amana energy saver....they all are anymore it seems....all plastic take 2 or so hours to run...energy saving..hahha-all plastic- quite my old one sounded like a b2 bomber in the kitchen- had to do dig a foxhole in my frontroom

One thing I’d look for is the running time. If this one goes, that’ll be a priority. Over an hour and half, without the drying cycle, is ridiculous.

The other thing that doesn’t appeal to me is inserting each piece of cutlery on the top shelf.

Would you have a model or model number you could provide?
They don't seem to have my model anymore, but it looks like this one except mine doesn't have the third rack and it's white. I bought it at Home Depot. Whirlpool makes KitchenAid, Maytag, Amana, and JennAir. Here is a chart I got from Consumer Reports. It's one reason I bought the Whirlpool.

My last dishwasher was a GE. The start button quit working and it was part of a sealed assembly that cost over $350. GE appliances are now made by a Haier, a Chinese company.

I purchased a Bosch dishwasher in May. It's very quiet, and I use the 1-hour rapid wash cycle most of the time. It has a two-year warranty through Costco. It replaced my previous Bosch dishwasher that lasted for fifteen years. So far, so good; I'm happy with it.

I bought a Bosch Serie 6 when our old Rangemaster dishwasher packed up after a long service. The Bosch is excellent, quiet, the 50 min fast cycle is good for most occasions. It also has various totally unnecessary functions such as WiFi connection and programmable wash cycles.

After our water heater quit working about 4 years ago, we decided not to replace it. We heat 2 large pans of water, one to wash them and then one to rinse them. We use a dish rack to let them dry. We typically do them every three days. No problems so far.

I have a Bosch, too. So far, it's great. Consumer Gives it the #1 recommendation. Bosch are a little on the pricey side, but they are definitely worth it in the long end.
