If a fish and a half cost a cent and a half, how much would 6 fish cost?

that's a good answer but not the one I was looking for...my Dad used to tell people this one for a number of yeard...

Simple algebra. What you do to one side of the equation you do to the other:

1.5 fish costs 1.5 cents. Multiply both sides by 4.
4 X 1.5 fish = 6 fish
4 X 1.5 cents = 6 cents.

So 6 fish cost 6 cents.

Did I miss something?

I think it has to be 6 cents. I can't see any other answer.

What I want to know is, where can I find that fish market?

Rather than the cost of the fish, we should be asking the following questions:

Were these fish farm-raised or wild-caught?

If they were farm-raised, were they happy? Did they have friends in their pond? Was music played for them and was it classical or rap?

If they were wild-caught, were they caught in dolphin-safe nets? Were they caught in treaty waters? Was the ice in the hold of the fishing boat made from gluten-free water?

Are these fish being sold at a Godless corporation like WalMart or is the fish store owned by a handicapped minority transgender little person?

And what do you plan to do with these fish you purchase? Are you going to selfishly gorge yourselves on their flesh or are you going to go out in your hand-woven Guatemalan robe (woven by indigenous blind villagers) and feed the multitude? Which brings up the next question: where do you get your loaves?

Never mind, I've been watching too much Portlandia………..

Beach Guy, Help! Before everyone overthinks this fun little teaser your dad used to play around with (I think it's too late lol)...Quick! Please post another teaser! You've certainly got their attention

Or could think of it this way: 1.5 fish = 1.5 cents, so it's 1 to 1
So, 6 fish = 6 cents

1 fish and 1/2 is equal to 3 halves.

so 3 halves cost 1.5 cents or .015 each half would cost .015 divided by 3 or .05 cents per half

6 fish are equal to 6 x 3 or 18 halves. 18 halves then would be 18 x .05 = 9 cents.

Lost me.
One and a half fish cost one and a half cents.
Therefore, one fish cost one cent.
Therefore, 6 fish cost 6 cents.

What am I missing ? How much did one fish cost ? Could only be 1c.
1c X 6 = 6c.

I have a sixth sense about such stuff.

lol - flunked math, didn't ya. :)
