An old Aunt of mine had a way of dealing with people who ranted in her face.
She would exagerate taking a deep breath, then giving the ranter a huge smile, then slowly turn her back on the ranter, walk a few paces, look over her shoulder and smile again, then walk away completely.
She had the most quiet and calm character, and usually stunned those gobby persons.
Over the years I've found myself doing similar as my old Aunt, and it does have an effect.![]()
My best friend in my school years had a Grandmother that fit that description to a Tee. Always pleasant, even in crappiest of times. I saw him before she passed recently, she was dealing with Alzheimers. He told me about their attending a wedding in the family, his Grandma looked at him and said "This would be a nice place to have a wedding"... he looked at me and smiled... I told him she would have appreciated that sense of humor on all our parts. She was a wonderful woman.
