A mob of Kangaroos at Pinjarra

13 kangaroos in this mob.
Further down the track I did come across a much larger mob. At least 50 strong. As so often happens, walking towards them to set up the camera, one of them got spooked by me and startled, began hopping towards the cover of the bush.
Once one kangaroo is startled, then the rest of them are startled.
Within 30 seconds they were all hiding within the cover of the Aussie bush.
On the video, I thought the large kangaroo on the right was the alpha male.
Seeing the video it is obvious this one is a female with a joey in the pouch.

Just throwing in a photo of me, talking to an orphaned Joey..

This reminds me of myself years ago when Hubby and I embarked on our world trip that lasted 5 months. We had only been away from home for about 5 weeks when we visited Vancouver zoo. I was feeling a bit homesick and found myself talking to the kangaroos. The roos listened patiently.

I'm glad no-one else was able to hear me.

Lovely film of the kangaroos Bretrick. A friend was with his family watching some when one of the roos came up to them. They thought it was being friendly when suddenly it lunged and tried to grab his 4 year old son. He immediately tried to grab his hysterical son when the roo turned on him and scratched this legs and face and tore his trousers. The ranger came running over to scare the roo who let him go. He had to go to hospital to have stiches in his legs. The ranger said it was mating time, and they are very unpredictable.
