My wife and I have been on the road down and back to FL to look in on my mother-in-law, whose problems are noted in another thread I added under the family section. Anyway, upon returning home and going through the mail, I was really happy to receive two letters from charities that received donations in honor of my recent retirement. My firm honored my years of service with very generous donations to three charities that are special to me. Two of them acknowledged the gifts while we were away. I chose the following to receive gifts: The Fisher House (helping wounded service men/women by providing temporary housing for their family members near VA hospitals, so they can be with them during long recovery periods), The Fisher Center for Alzheimer's Research Foundation (studying the disease and working towards a cure) and The Wish Project (a charity which helps 35,000 needy families in my local area by providing the basic necessities of life such as clothing and household goods). What a good feeling to know that my years of service resulted in these three worthy charities receiving generous donations.
As if that wasn't enough, they honored me with an inscribed Chelsea Clock, which I'll keep on my desk. This thing is gorgeous, made of solid brass.
