A Nice Walk ( with photos )

Today we walked on the ATV trail beside the river. We started off going to the provincial park but it was far too windy so we came here instead. The river is running fast since all the snow is melting. IMG_3001.jpegIMG_3004.jpeg
Most of the trail was clear due to the sun being able to get to it. IMG_2992.jpeg
We walked about 2 1/2 kilometres. It was 6 degrees Celsius and sunny. 🌞

It was certainly safer than the forest trail.
This was taken at the provincial park. There is a lot of rocks falling right now since it’s warmer. We have to be careful where we walk.

Have a lovely day.

Today we went to Celtic Shores to go for a nice walk. Yesterday the weather was so bad, we had to skip our walk. Today was 4 degrees and sunny so we didn’t mind going the extra distance.

Here are some photos of the walk. The trail was completely free of snow and ice.

The first bridge we came to.

We walked a total of 3 1/2 kilometres
I’m almost back to walking the full 4 kilometres but not quite there yet. My heel tendons are definitely healing.

Note: I have more pictures to show so will make another post.

Patty. I am going to assume that the "rental cottages " are seasonal rentals, for the warm weather time period ? JIMB>

Here’s some risk taking fisherman out on the ice.

Here’s a hawk resting in a tree.

And here’s a picture of what my husband calls ice pans. It’s ice in the ocean that’s broken off from the main solid chunk. While walking today my husband told me that when he was young they used to jump from ice pan to ice pan. It was a game they used to play. 😱 I consider myself brave but there is no way anybody could talk me into doing that. What do you guys think?

You’d think so but it appears to always have 2 of the cottages occupied. I ‘m not sure if these cottages have extra insulation in them or what but there’s definitely people living in them all year around and it’s been that way since we’ve been walking here so that’s been about 3 or 4 years.
Good question Jim!

No freaking way! But, you know, kids are immortal, so they think. ;) I did some things when I was young such that, looking back now, I'm surprised I'm alive.

I wonder what the thinking was behind the boat name, "The Twirp."

True! Kids do think they are immortal so they think. I also did some very questionable things when I was a kid. Just the thought of being trapped underneath the ice has me running for the hills.

I wondered about the name on the boat also. 😂

Along time ago, I had a towing business in Orillia, Ontario. I also became the on site manager for an old 12 unit motel. I lived in the manager's house at the rear of the property. The units were old and run down, but in the fall and winter I had all 12 of them rented out to individuals, who paid by the week.

The property was owned by a real estate company in Barrie, who were sitting on the property., waiting for an offer to sell it for a housing development. The property was five acres on the north edge of the town. This was in 1988. About half of the "winter renters " were on some form of government benefit program. In the spring some of them moved out to Gull Lake Provincial Park, to live in tents for the summer.

I sold the towing business and the 3 trucks, to a local competitor towing company, and moved back to the big smoke. JIMB>

I take it you weren’t too fond of your renters?
Run down places often attract run down people. People who come with a load of baggage. I bet you couldn’t wait to get out of there.

These cottages look a bit run down also but I have to admit that I’ve never walked by the cottages and heard any questionable behaviour. In other words there’s been no loud music, smell of drugs or visible drinking.
