A person I know turns 105 this Sunday

It was my first husband's birthday a couple of days ago... he was 69... but he feels 105. He's got severe COPD... hooked up to oxygen all day and night.. is recovering from Prostate cancer.. and is generally very poorly. Lives alone.. ( not to put too fine a point on it.. every wife or relationship he had ( I was the first wife)...and every child he's had... my dd is his first born.. and he had 4 more by others... have also turned their back on him... because of the horrible way he's treated everyrone .. reap and what you sow is very apt in his case...

However I hate to see him so poorly, an actual virtual shadow of himself of when we were young and married.... .. to give you an example he looks now like someone who has been on Ozempic for years he's so emaciated...

struggling for every breath every minute of the day....... :(

I'm the only one who keeps in touch with him... he lives just 500 yards away

She used to attend church, but understandably can't anymore and is in an assisted care facility.
My thoughts and prayers go out to the people left behind that loved her. 🙏❤️🙏I wrote the following before I read that she just passed!
WOW!! I hope she's happy🙏 and those that love her are still able to go see her.👍
With the health issues I have going on at my current age I don't think I want to live that long!! I'm always amazed at those that make it so long though! 😳

My last remaining Aunt passed away in April of 2021at the age of 101½. In the nursing homes where I worked there was one woman who lived to be 104, and another woman who lived to be 108. But when you live to be that old, there isn't much of a mind left. If you walked by the 108 year old, she would just repeat saying, "Hello", Hello,"

My Mom lived to 103 +6 months. Based on what I saw with her, quality of live was not great at all past 100. I'm sure there's exceptions to that but I don't think I wanna live that long myself.
It is unfortunate that quality of life worsens the older one gets. That is one of the side effects of people living much longer than they used to, according to a medical article I read a couple of years ago.

The other thing I noticed with my mother was that once people go into a full care nursing facility, which my mother had to do at 100, they don't traditionally last too much longer. I think I read the average is around 18 months. My mother roughly doubled that.
