I heard the phrase..."mid-summer swag"...

but I don't know what that means.

"Clue me in";)

What do you think?

There were 5 definitions of swag when I googled it. Mostly they're about prized material goods, possibly illegally procured, but not necessarily. I picture bobbles and trinkets that have value. So... Mid summer swag would be prized material goods for the summer. Surf boards, motor scooters, bikinis, or glass wear used for making mint juleps. But people throw around terms like that so casually, who knows what they mean by it.

I think it's "made-up"...and I'm going to speculate it means...maybe getting something new to wear
at this time of year...that's the best I can do.

How 'bout you?

Got any "mid-summer swag?

New sandals?

Or anything?
yep 3 pairs of capri trousers today... khaki, lemon, and navy...what about you ?

The last thing I would think it means is anything to do with shopping!
The first thing that comes to my mind is "letting it all hang out" or " the lazy, hazy days of Summer".
Just, "Letting go." ""Sleeping on the beach", "resting in a hammock" If I were a man, taking a whiz off the front porch"
"Drinking a cold beer on the front steps" "Waylon Jennings, maybe" "campfires"
Well, you get the picture. "letting go of all your cares and woes and just enjoy"
Anyway, That's my take.

I like your idea of summer. Well, maybe not the whiz, this is a family community.

"It's too bloomin' hot doin' this in the summer!" 😊

As the above illustration shows, 'swag' used to be another word for 'loot' as in stolen goods. Don't know if it is seasonal though!

In Australia years ago a swagman (as in Once a jolly swagman camped by a billabong) was an itinerant unemployed person and they carried all their possessions wrapped un a blanket that was slung across the shoulder. The rolled up blanket was called a swag.

In that context, I could imagine a summer swag to be lighter than one carried in the Winter. It isn't a phrase I have heard before.
