A plane is threatening to crash into a Walmart or Toyota Plant in Mississippi

The pilot of a small airplane circling over a Mississippi city on Saturday morning has threatened to crash the aircraft into a Walmart store, police said.

The Tupelo Police Department said in a Facebook post that the Walmart and a nearby convenience store had been evacuated. The plane started circling about 5 a.m. and was still in the air more than three hours later.

CBS affiliate WCBI-TV posted video of the plane flying over the area.

 he's got to run out of fuel right about now... hopefully the nutcase will drop right from the sky onto an empty field, and save the police the job of arresting him..

Run out of fuel. That's what I was thinking when I saw the start time.

Hopefully not necessary but wonder if a National Guard plane could shoot him down or a soldier could use an anti aircraft weapon in a strategic/safer location.

A local news outlet is reporting a crash. Fire and/or police have confirmed a crash.

Another update now reports it looks like it landed in a field. Video shows no smoke.

WTVA.com is getting continuous updates.

Cory Paterson, 29, took the plane from Tupelo Airport at around 5am, and flew in circles across Mississippi for at least five hours.

Patterson threatened to intentionally crash the Beechcraft King Air 90 plane into a Walmart and was been in contact with the Tupelo Police Department.

He is understood to work at the Tupelo Regional Airport, and has regularly posted about flying planes across the country. Authorities have yet to confirm if the aircraft he was flying has crash landed
