Baby animals have their own special names ...
So why is it then that senior animals don't have special names?
There are of course the names given to an adult specimen, but that is just it's regular name, not a cutesie nickname like the babies have. Is it because the senior members are not so cuddly? Because they fell out of the ugly tree and hit every branch on the way down?
Why the discrimination?
I say we lobby for proper names for senior animals. I'll start ... I propose that a senior hamster be known as a "Pappy".
- Baby armadillos, dogs, bats and Guinea pigs are called "pups"
- Baby chickens have several names - "chick", "pullet", and "cockrell"
- Even cockroach babies have a special name - "nymphs" (!)
