A returnee

Hello all, I used to be an active member here until a year or so ago - maybe longer and decided to leave for a bit following some rather highly charged political exchanges! Anyway I enjoy the forum and I've decided to return - and not to get too involved with politics this time.

A brief summary - retired Education Officer (originally trained as a social worker, then a teacher) living on the Scotland/England border with a partner of 17 years and two border terriers. I have two grown up kids from earlier relationships. I'm liberal in outlook and not too curmudgeonly...yet.

Welcome back. As you may have seen, Matrix decided to retire the politics sub forum here, and asked for no more political talk. Things have calmed down a lot.

I'm new to this forum, but I recently dropped off the AARP website as the political discussions are vitriolic beyond reason. So, I understand why you stayed away from here as it would appear you may have had similar, nasty postings on your political thread(s).

Hi,retiredtraveler,I also stopped posting at the AARP website, not as enjoyable when I first joined. I agree with you about the political forum, there are a lot of angry, unhappy people there who need to vent their anger to anybody who will listen. Sue

Yes. I recognized your signature immediately on this thread. This is a much calmer website.
