A sharp left turn to our day!

I drove an E type with the V12

Straightened some curves, but disappointed in how it handled

Think I got it up to somewhere around 140-160mph

Don't really know, as the few times I did look, it was the Tach
Red lining can be a concern
Awesome!

The closest I've ever come to riding in a car similar to that of an older jaguar was a guy in high school who's dad had an MG or an MGB (I don't remember and don't know the difference), but it was open-top and British Racing Green in colour. It was a dream car and his dads baby.

Great, great rally car.

The small, low, decent wheel based vehicles are just the essence of living.
Country roads were made for them.

One day....one day, I'm picking up a little bug eye sprite

I will never be home in summer

I owned an MGB back in the early 1970s. It was in pretty rough condition but lots of fun to drive. I had to give the starter motor a light wack with a steel bar every morning but then it was good for the rest of the day.

Wow!

Beautiful! Seeing and knowing your car was an MGB, that's what I think the car was that I got a ride in, an MGB.

It looked so close to yours, identical from what I remember. Never seen it with the top on it once. A pure summer and nice day driver it was.

It had a black leather or vinyl interior, I do remember that, and it was a manual shifting car. Same spoke wheels as yours.

Yup.....solenoid bump

Same with my Datsun roaster
Glad the hood opened from the back....easy reach
Exactly, yes. My mistake. The solenoid, not the starter itself. Lucas Electrics in the Datsum, too? I also owned a Triumph Bonneville. Electrical headaches with that too.

Not sure

I kinda missed having to bump it after changing it out
He-he! I know what you mean. :)
The SU carbs were a bit touchy too
Yes, and so were the dual Amal carburetters on my Triumph Bonneville. So difficult to keep them synchronized. The points kept shifting about too so I had to keep a feeler gauge in my pocket at all times. And then there were the twin coils. I finally replaced both of them with a single Honda coil that fired on the ignition AND the exhaust strokes, which was a good thing as it burned off excess gasses!

Is that a V12 (a straight six)?

Jay was saying his car has a V12 in it.

Sorry I can't talk turkey with you guys. I'm a housewife not a mechanic. :giggle:
I definitely do not want to be accused of 'derailing a thread' - at least not once again on the same subject - but there's more than one housewife who can run circles around me in the garage. 😃

Ronni. Has Ron, handed the keys over to you yet to burn a little rubber after an evening cocktail or a glass or two of wine? :giggle:
Car is in both our names so I have as much legal right to drive it as he does. 😉 Thankfully I don’t have to remind him of that fact, we take turns. It’s a stick shift and so sometimes who drives is determined solely by whether his knee or my hip is hurting. 😂

Speaking of V8s
A buddy of mine had a late 60s Jeep Wrangler with a rather large V8
He had a hard time keeping it wheel side down (short wheelbase)
It must have been top-heavy! In 1968 I put together a '64 Ford Falcon street gasser with a cross-bolt 427. I had a difficult time keeping the front wheels on the ground.
