A Soak in the Bath versus A Quick Shower?

I'm a typical water -baby. I know a shower is quick, but a long, hot soak in the bath to ease the aches and pains is my idea of luxury. I wonder if others agree with me.

Unless one has a walk-in tub, a shower with grab bars are safer for older people. Also easier to clean rather than bending over to scrub a tub. I feel I do get cleaner with a shower and easier to wash my hair.

Absolutely a shower every time..I hate sitting in bath water.. dirty water as others say.. and also boring. I like to just step in and get a shower nice and quick. When my back is hurting, I just turn up the temps a little and let the power shower do it's job on my back for a few extra minutes!!

Have not taken a bath in years. Showers only for me. My own mobility is so bad that I would never be able to get up out of a tub without assistance. Hubby wants to get one of those walk-in tubs. The kind with the jets. But if we did, it would be way down the line.
In our house we have a tub and a walk in shower. Hubby does not like the shower. He is a big guy and it is actually hard for him to get in and out of due to the sliding glass doors.
So, he had some friends who do handy work for us, make a cut out in the tub, and seal it over. Now he can walk into the tub to take his shower. Works well.

Always showers but once in awhile in the winter I like to soak in a hot bath. I know it dries your shin out but I like it so hot I turn pink and actually have trouble sitting in it until I get use to it. If I have aches and pains I swear by Epson Salts.

Years ago there was a bath product called Sardo. It was very greasy and I'm sure you could slip easily. I don't remember what the stuff was suppose to do for you but as a teenager I loved the scent of it.

My Mom always complained when I used it because she couldn't get the tub clean.

I not only don't like taking baths, I also don't like taking showers in bathtubs. We even remodeled our house years ago to add two showers (in addition to the two tubs). Give me a stall shower and I'm a very happy woman. My husband and kids feel the same way.

Used to love baths, until I reached my mid 50s, now only showers. Quicker, and easier to wash hair.

I have a grab bar - very important safety feature.

When I was a youngster I,loved taking long hot baths.
I've been a shower lover for many yrs because if I tried getting out of the bath tub now it would be a struggle with a partial right knee Sue

Most of the time I like a shower, it is easier to wash your hair, etc. But once in a blue moon I'll take a bubble bath or epsom salts bath to relax my muscles....usually in winter months. :bath:

It looks like showers win, hands down here :) I like the idea of a relaxing bath, but as has been said I also get bored and of course the lying in dirty water, so haven't had one for decades, but a shower daily is great, preferably a wet room :love_heart:
I do recall a strange habit I had of drinking bathwater when I was a very young child.... yuck!!!

When I was a child a bath was run using the bath heater. My sister and I would go in together - great fun. Then more hot water was added and Mum had her bath. Finally Dad would have his and he would soak in the hot water for quite a long time. Sometimes the undies would be thrown into the water after he finished to soak until the morrow.

This practice did not result in any diseases from "dirty water" but it did make sense as a way of conserving water in a dry land.

I love baths. There's nothing more relaxing than lazing in a tub, soaping myself and getting clean while my brain completely destresses. It makes me feel elegant on every level. :love_heart:

I don't even have a tub in my new house....only showers..love the hot spray pressure on my neck and back...mmm

Shower. But my daughters love both. Since I have a deep tub with jets I sometimes feel guilty for not using it. So I fill it with hot water, then while it waits for me I take a quick shower before getting in because I want the water to be clean and warm while I relax. But it's time consuming if you have things to do and places to go so I rarely use it.
