A Very Sad and Concerning Situation

My BFF has a friend who told her that her son-in-law is hospitalized with a brain tumor. A little later, the lady told her that now her daughter has been diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor. She may be starting a chemo regimen soon. The couple has small children who may soon be orphans. That both the parents have come down with this terrible illness made me wonder if there is something in their environment (my BFF thought perhaps their home) that caused them to get brain tumors. A decision was made to bring the children in for testing. I'm sure my BFF will keep me updated.

I feel so bad for this family. If there's any chance these illnesses were caused by environmental factors, I hope the authorities do something about it rather than sweep it under the rug. I'm not sure where they live, but I think it;s in the mid west. I've read about other places where environmental factors were thought to be responsible for an inordinate amount of cancers in the towns.

Unusual for them both so I too would suspect the environment. So sad.
 
When my husband was under treatment there was a couple who were both diagnosed with cancer. I could not imagine the challenges they went through in the way of care for each other. It was rough on me and I was healthy. But this? This is a nightmare. Two young people facing this terrible news in the same family at the same time.

Please let us know of any encouraging news on their prognosis.
 
It does seem highly unlikely to just be coincidence, and perhaps there may be some common underlying thread. Hardly a day goes by but what science isn't learning something new about lifestyle, toxins in food, pesticides, cookware, microplastics, water, stress, and other environmental exposures. However, with our bodily systems being so complex, it is nearly impossible to determine causation. Still it may be possible to find suspicious links. Anyway, so sorry to hear about what has befallen this family. I really hope they will respond well to treatments.
 
Very sad. I survived cancer and of course spent quite a large amount of time doing research. The cancer rates are sky high out of control. Not sure why it isn't causing alarm and receiving the attention it deserves. I mean the medical community and media made such a huge thing out of Covid, but cancer is accepted as an almost normal part of life?

Our environment is toxic far beyond any acceptable levels as well as packaged foods. Even produce is contaminated with crap.
It has reached the point where you can't find a truly healthy lifestyle/environment even if one makes that a priority.

The best you can do is minimize the exposure as much as possible and hope for the best. I believe humans are doomed and we are doing it to ourselves:(. Shamefully we are taking down many species with us...

My late husband had Brain Tumor which was large-sized tumor on his right side of his head.
His GP(retired) told me, look at Joe Biden's son who passed away young age which implied his survival rate was very slim. The doctor referred him to Brain Surgery which performed two days later and took long-hours operation.

The doctor actually dx'ed brain tumor, however it originated from lung cancer when MRI(many side of his body) indicated it.

His mother was cancer-surviver(double breast cancer) at age 55. Her last few years, however she underwent another cancer(bone cancer) until her passing at age 84.
My husband got from his mother, 'gene,' not enviromental factors when his brain doctor asked him.
 
It would be very, very, (extreme even), unusual for brain cancers to exist because of environmental factor.

The vast majority are metastatic in fact.

Because of the improbability of both getting brain tumors at the same time, my "suspicion" alarms would be activated. Years ago, I had a friend who claimed to have some form of cancer that came and went, usually creating symptoms when she had a fight with her husband. She was apparently healthy and was an active mother of two boys, and had a career. She had the whole neighborhood feeling sorry for her until one of the neighbors got suspicious and called the woman's doctor. There was no cancer, the problem was all in her head.

In the case you describe, it could all be true, of course, and would be very tragic. But I wouldn't leap in to believe it either.

Considering people’s medical files are private I highly doubt a neighbour could just call up and get that specific information.
 
I wondered about that also, Patty, but I called the woman who supposedly had the illness and asked her what in tarnation this was all about. She admitted that she had made it up. I think maybe the doctor was just taken by surprise and disclosed more than he probably should have.
