A weather 'proverb'..have you ever heard?

New to me.. anyone else?

Is it an ole' farmers saying?

And I'm not sure if it means, that it will, or that it will not,
rain on that spot of grass.

Weather proverbs, in general, would make another good thread. (Unless we already have one for those. Do we? )

Being from southern Ontario, I wasn't familiar with northern Ontario weather. Also, I was used to just seeing the weather forecast on TV.

One day in the lumber camp, I wondered whether it was going to snow. A coworker said, "No, it's too cold to snow." I thought about it, and decided it made sense.

Another time when I said something about snow, a coworker pointed out that it couldn't snow because there were no clouds in the sky. That also made sense!

If the barometer falls slowly, the rain will last a while. If the air pressure falls rapidly, it will be a brief storm.

This may be the basis of Groundhog Day:
If Candlemas be fair and clear, there'll be two winters in the year.
Candlemas falls on the same day as Groundhog Day (February 2).

Or my all-time favorite at election time: "The weather is clear today, but the air is full of bulls*it."

The larger the ring, the closer the rain.

As rain approaches, a ring or halo is formed around the moon due to refraction by ice crystals in high cirrus clouds.
